Her plans include moving to Chicago from Palo Alto, a new home, a new job, and why not have a little fun before she goes.
Her best friend Olivia wins back stage passes to a concert and Laura decides she deserves to let loose and go crazy. She meets the lead singer and goes back to his place for what she hopes is one night of great sex. Unfortunately for her, he didn't get the memo and keeps turning up for more and she just can't seem to stop herself from falling into bed with him again and again.

Chapter One
I searched through the couch cushions trying desperately to find the damn remote. If Carlos was here, he’d know exactly where it was. But he wasn’t here. He was with one of his girlfriends or the frickin’ mother of his child. Dammit, I won’t cry.
My hand came upon fabric and I pulled it up. Idiot. I was an idiot. What did I think I would find? Certainly not the hard plastic remote. No, it was a lavender thong.
I screamed as I flung it across the room and it landed on the bookshelf. Nauseated I washed my hands, picked up a grocery sack and bagged the offending panties before throwing them away. Fuck, they were expensive. Maybe that’s why he strayed, because I wore boring panties. Shit, I needed a drink. I should really stop swearing too, if I wasn’t careful I’d drop a bomb on one of my patients and that would be bad.
My phone rang and I was relieved it was Olivia.
Guess what? I just won tickets to the concert Friday night, with backstage passes!
Olivia excitedly went on, I’ve got two tickets. So, if you want to bring a friend, I’ll totally give them to you.
What do you mean? Don’t you want to go?
I asked.
Um, not really. I like the bands but I don’t want to go backstage.
"Why the hell not? Hot rocker dudes? Come on, you have to go! You haven’t been laid in three years and I totally could do with a wild girl’s night out. I just found some bitch’s thong in my couch!" I took a breath, I’ll take you to dinner, Chez Louis…
I knew she couldn’t resist Chez Louis.
That’s not fair,
she whined, You know I’m a foodie!
I need this night, Liv. Please?
I begged.
She paused for a moment before answering, Ok. I’ll be the designated driver. We’ll get dressed up and see if we can’t find you some hot dude to take your mind off the asshole. Someone who’s really hung, totally fit, and available for twenty-four hours of incredible sex.
I laughed, Yeah, that’s what I need. So I’ll bring my stuff to your house and we’ll get ready there. Ok?
You sound excited about this,
she said.
I am. God, finally something to look forward to. You better not chicken out on me, dammit.
Of course not. It’ll be fun,
she said lamely and I just laughed.
I know this isn’t your thing, but color outside the lines for once, would ya?
I said and she giggled.
Outside the lines?
All the way outside. See you tomorrow. Oh, and Liv? I’m dressing you and doing your makeup.
Shit. See you tomorrow.
She hung up.
---
Friday night we sat in Olivia’s master bedroom, she complained about the skirt I brought for her to wear, but she didn’t change out of it. I took that as a small victory. She refused to put on smoky eyes, but at least she let me straighten her hair and put on some makeup. Seriously, sometimes she was such a guy. She was an Amazon goddess compared to me, all long legs and disgustingly slim. She looked like she ran twenty miles a day, but she didn’t. I would hate her but she was my best friend. She was also a nice girl, in the truest sense. I had been married for the last five years, and worked with her at Stanford for the last three. She rarely dated and was famous for her dating rules. First she wouldn’t date anyone she worked with, second, no kisses until the third date. Kisses! As far I knew the woman hadn’t had sex the entire time she worked with me. Shit, I thought my life sucked.
You know, Liv, if you see someone you want to go home with tonight, I’ll totally be your wingman.
She looked at me with total disbelief, Uh, no. Tonight is about you. Thank you for dinner by the way, I owe you for that. Tonight we will enjoy the concert and if you really feel up to it, I’ll go backstage with you.
Feel up to it?
I asked. Liv, it’s just a party.
With people we don’t know.
And possibly incredibly hot guys who want to spend the night pleasuring the hell out of us.
I waggled my brows and she just laughed.
--
After the concert, I pulled Liv backstage. She dragged her heels the whole way and once we were inside she shifted uncomfortably from foot to foot. She complained about feeling too old and out of place. Jesus, I’m the one who was old and out of place, and I refused to leave. I pulled her to the bar and ordered two whiskeys. The guy next to me had a tattooed sleeve that looked amazing. He turned his green eyes to me and I swear to God I stopped breathing. Fuck. If there was any chance that I would go home with someone, please God, let it be him.
The man who leaned against the bar next to me turned to look at Liv and then flicked his gaze to me. His green eyes sought out mine again and he held out his tattooed hand.
Hello beautiful. Did you enjoy the show?
His low voice sent tingles down my spine and I immediately realized he was Jay-C, the lead singer for Frenetic, the middle act. His friend was checking out Liv, so perhaps tonight might work out for both of us after all.
I gave him a seductive smile, Of course. You rocked my world. I hope I can return the favor.
He pulled my hand up to his lips and said smoothly, I'd like that, beautiful.
Holy hell. Yeah, me too. Jesus, I was glad I put on good panties tonight.
Well, you kids have fun. I think I'll head on out.
Olivia said tartly, Ok?
Don't go.
Hell, I wasn’t ready to be left alone with him. She sucked as a wing man.
Jay-C grinned at her, Sure, there's always room for one more.
Oh hell, not what I hoped for. I mean I loved Liv, but totally in an asexual way. This was not ok. He placed his hand on my back and slid it down my ass and squeezed gently.
Relax,
he breathed into my ear. His hand slid further down and then back up, under my skirt. He stepped behind me and slid his hands up my thigh. Holy Mary, Mother of God. I tried to remain calm but I couldn’t stop the reaction my body was having.
Olivia held her hand up in front of his face and backed away, checking his pupils to see if he was high. Horrible wing-man, good friend though.
He raised an eyebrow annoyed with her and then his eyes softened as he spoke to me, How about we go somewhere more private?
I couldn’t speak, I just nodded. His hand moved from my thigh to my waist and he offered his other hand to Olivia. Oh no, I really didn’t want her to come. She seemed to read my mind.
She put her hands up defensively, Look, I'm sure I would cherish the memories, but I have an early workday tomorrow.
I smiled, relaxing and she added, Text me when you get home, ok?
Jay-C pulled me close and whispered in my ear, I’ll take good care of you, sweetheart.
He ushered me through a back exit and the warm night engulfed us. I loved the Bay Area, the weather was phenomenal and it was a big city without all the high rises. He linked his fingers with mine and led me to a Jetta that was parked among Mercedes and limousines. I chuckled, he drove a Jetta? He shrugged, his eyebrow piercing reflecting the parking lot lights.
It gets great gas mileage,
he said as he unlocked it.
I grinned. I know, I drive one too.
He pushed his fist toward me for a fist bump. Hey, Jetta-buddy.
I laughed and bumped his fist. I prefer to go by Laura, but Jetta-buddy works.
He held the door for me and I slid in. Laura, call me Jason.
He pulled out of the parking lot and headed toward the hills.
You live here?
I asked.
Yeah, I grew up in Foster City, but I bought a house in Hillsborough.
My eyebrows arched, Nice.
Jesus, he couldn’t be older than Liv, maybe twenty-six and he already owned a home in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods.
What about you?
My face scrunched up, this was just a one night stand, nothing more. There was no need to bring my baggage along. Palo Alto.
He whistled, "Sweet. Where do you
