Miss you, Darling
Spinning around to see my partner of 12 years, Richard, I could tell he was pleased to see me by the beaming smile on his face.
‘How was fishing?’ I asked as I walked over to him.
Holding onto his hands and stepping in for a kiss, he winced.
‘Careful of my foot darling,’ Richard said. ‘I stubbed my toe.’
‘Why didn’t you tell me,’ I said. ‘Let me have a look!’
‘No darling, it’s okay,’ he replied.
But after insisting, knowing that as he’s diabetic he has to be particularly careful with feet, he showed me.
It was August time, 2017, and a day or two later I could tell his toe was still causing him agony.
But he was never one to complain about himself, he cared more about the wellbeing of others.
Richard lived his life ensuring he was the most dapper of gentlemen.
