    It was only a part time job, nothing more. Helping out with administrative work a few days a week in an office a couple days a week was going to be my foot in the door. The pay was good, the hours weren’t too bad, and it left me time for my other work.

    While I had just finished up my degree, the small town I’d grown up in wasn’t the greatest for jobs. When the part time gig working Tuesday and Wednesdays came up in March, I knew I had to take it. It wasn’t much, but with the income I made on my online business, it was enough to finally get my own little apartment in town.

    My other job was designing nail polish. While I went to college for art history, there wasn’t anything open in my field and at least the polish let me put some of my education to use. I’d started selling my stuff online in my second year of college and by time I graduated, I was pulling in about a thousand dollars a month. Not crazy, but enough in our small town.
