Mr Pierce was kissing me, he was actually kissing me and it felt good. Then he started caressing my cheek slowly, then my neck. I was not even sure how to react. This cold boss of mine was kissing me, touching my face and neck. Then he was caressing my side. He caress was magical. It sent shivers down my spine and ripples of pleasure around my body. He pulled me closer to me and deepened the kiss. My hands hung at my side awkwardly. I was not sure if I was supposed to touch him.

When he broke off the kiss, I stood there just staring him, panting. His green gaze was resting on my face. He looked hungry, hungry for me. It made me nervous and confused. I had no idea what had just happened. I had my hands in mid air with my palms up. I put them the back down. I scratched the back of my head. “Mr...” I drifted off. I could not even say anything. I sighed with pleasure, I turned on my heel and left the room.

Book 3 Description

Kelly arrived just in time to help with the moving. The moving van was already there. Ruby sat on the side walk with her doll as I was packing. As soon as Kelly greeted me, she knew that there was something wrong with me. She held me by my shoulders and searched my eyes. “What is wrong?” She asked me.

“Jermaine” I replied. Just the sound of the name turned her face dark. She dropped her hands from my shoulders.

“What did that bastard do?

I picked up a box. “Showed up at my work” I put the box in the van. I walked back to the other boxes. I could hear Kelly muttering curse words.  “Yes and he said he missed me” I said as I put another box in the van.

“Okay Em, just come here for a second and let the men load up the van” Kelly grabbed me and pulled me towards her. “Tell me everything that happened”

“That was it. I slapped him after he said that and left”

“He's lucky it was you not me”

That was very much true. Kelly would have punched him the first moment she saw him. She had a shorter temper than me. Her motto was to strike first, ask questions later. She hated him as much as I did if not more. Over time, I had been able to let go off him. Being with Jason strangely made me forget. Yes he was a complicated man who probably did not like me the way I would want him to but he was a better man than Jermaine. He was who he was. He was cold but honest.

Honesty was the best gift to a person. Jermaine was not honest. He pretended to love and showered me with compliments. He was the exact opposite of Jason.

I sighed with pleasure, I turned on my heel and left the room.

I sat in the comfort of my car. What had just happened? That was the most random thing that had ever happened. Nice but random. My temperature had risen. I could not think straight. How could one moment do that to me? I sighed and tried to think about something else. I was grateful that it was Friday. I could not cope with seeing him the next day. That would be awkward. Monday was not far and it was still going to be awkward but at least I had two days to find a way to deal with it. I put the radio on and started driving.

I was happy to see Ruby. I gave my baby a tight hug. Kelly was coming over for the weekend. I was looking forward to seeing her. I started on the dinner. I put the marinated chicken in the over. Then put some rice in the rice cooker. I made the vegetables and the different sauces. The door bell rang about half an hour later. I ran to get the door, it was a Kelly. I hugged her and returned with her to the kitchen. She picked up Ruby from her high chair.

Kelly was talking to me about her university. She had so much to tell me. She was speaking at a hundred miles per hour. Mr Pierce kissed me I blurted out. No matter how hard I had tried to forget it but I just could not. Kelly dropped her fork on the plate and stared at me wide eyed. I pulled a face and gulped down most of my drink.

How on earth did that happen? Kelly asked me.

I really do not know I replied.

So he just kissed you?

Yes he did

Kelly's mouth dropped open. She was just as shocked as I was. I knew there was sexual tension between you and him she said. She had mentioned it a few times but in the same breath she expressed how much she disliked the way he treated me.

What? No love, there is no sexual tension between the two of us

Well why is he kissing you then?

Kissed! It was one kiss and there will not be anymore

How can you be so sure?

I have to be, otherwise work will become awkward and I need this job

Kelly laughed at me. Well you might have to start searching for another

Kelly it's not funny I was freaked out a bit. Sure I found him attractive but at the same time, he was a very hard man to please. He was closed up and he was simply mean.

I sighed and nodded. Thinking about it again in more detail was making my temperature rise. Ruby was just sitting there eating her food. She had no clue what was happening. Kelly started laughing. She was now very intrigued. I could see it all of her face. I just knew what she was going to ask next.

I was just about to go home and I went into his office to ask if he needed anything before I left. Then he was kissing me and then I left. That was it I told her the details before she asked. I knew she wanted them.

Did you kiss him back?  she asked. I nodded. How long was it for?

I do not know, I was not counting I stood up from the table and took my plate to the sink. I started talking about something else.

Emily this is kind of a big deal

No it is not. He is my boss and it will remain that way. End of subject

Alright Kelly said. I could tell that she was not convinced. Even I was not convinced. I had no idea why he had kissed me in the first place. So how was I to know it would not happen again. It was just a kiss anyway. I had to shake it off.

I cleaned up after dinner. Then I took Ruby for a bath. I put her to bed. Kelly and I just had a girls night in watching movies. It was good to have my little sister here with me having a good time like back in the day. She had been spending more time with me since my ex-husband left. She made sure that Ruby and I were okay.

Chapter 2

It was finally Monday. The day I had been dreading. It came faster than I wanted. It always happened that way. It was inevitable anyway. Seeing him was inevitable. The best way was to act like nothing happened right? Unfortunately that was not how I was wired, I asked questions. Not this time- I told myself. I could not even say anything on Friday, how was I going to start speaking now?

I got ready for work. Then I dropped Ruby off at the daycare. Then dropped Kelly off at the station. Then I got into work. I smiled and greeted Mona as I walked in. She was always the first one there. I headed to my office and looked at the schedule. Mr Pierce had a meeting later in the day, which meant I had a meeting too. Fortunately the meeting was being held in our building. I was not up to having an awkward ride with him to the location.

Mr Pierce arrived at his normal time. I had made his coffee already. I walked to his office and greeted him as always, gave him his coffee and read out his schedule. He was sitting at his deck listening to me talk and looking at me with the same cold hard stare. Only this time it was a little bit more intense. So intense that it affected me. My temperature started rising, my palms started getting sweating. I started anticipating a kiss, I wanted another. I could not believe myself. I decided to get out of there quickly. It was too intense for me.

The rest of the day was just like normal. He still acted the same with me. Just as cold as before. It was as if the kiss never happened. Part of me was disappointed. I have no idea what I was expecting but it was like I did affect him at all. I went to his office before I left. As usual he did not want anything. I will not be in the office tomorrow he said.

Anything I should I know about? I asked. Stupid question, because the answer was always no.

No, it's a personal matter I need to deal with

Progress! That was probably the most polite answer he had ever given me. Okay I said. I turned on my heel and left his office. It gave me relief knowing that he was not coming to work the next day. It meant less awkwardness and less work for me. I bid Mona farewell as I left.
