Preface
I had wanted to write a book for a very long time based on my experiences and what I had learned. This is my maiden attempt at writing a book, so I don't expect it to be perfect. As Darren LaCroix, the Toastmasters 2001 World Champion of Public Speaking puts it, "Done is better than perfect."
The idea for this book came about from the various speeches that I have delivered. Whenever I delivered these speeches, audience members would come up to me saying, I was inspired by your speech. Thank you.
On quite a few occasions, people have come up to me saying, Oh! We heard you about two years ago and your speech inspired me.
Whenever they would say this, my wife, Rajani, would say, You need to write a book so that more people can be inspired.
So this book marks an end to the procrastination to write and a culmination of those thoughts. I don't have great aspirations for this book, that it should be a bestseller or any such thing. If it can touch a few lives, inspire a few dreams and help a few people take that next step in life, I believe that I would have achieved my purpose for writing this book.
Thank you for taking the time to read this book, either partly or wholly, I feel honored. If you think it has made an impact on you, or you feel that you agree or disagree with some things I have said, please feel free to tell me. You can contact me at shridhar@motivaluate.com or go to my Facebook page and like it or comment.
I have taken literary liberty with some stories to enhance their impact and changed the names of some of the characters to protect their identities. However, all stories are real and factual, as they happened in my life.
My sincere thanks to Diahann Caroll Vaz and Dwan Abrams for taking the time to edit this book and for their encouraging and supportive words. To my business coach Rajesh Nagjee for his touching foreword to the book; my leadership coach Elizabeth Beth
High for her foreword, and Sajith Ansar for the cover design. I also thank my wife for her support and inspiring me to write this book. A special thanks to my daughter, Swarashri, for her candidness, and all the people who have told me to Write a book!

Foreword
SERENDIPITY
The occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy and /or beneficial way.
Authors create windows for readers to see the world in a unique way. A few gifted authors, speaking in simple words, straight from their heart, create mirrors for readers to see themselves in a very special way and feel touched, moved and inspired.
Shridhar is a man of rare integrity, compassion and purity of heart, word and deed. As you read each story, my wish for you is to allow the simple wisdom of a common man touch you, inspire you, move you as it has done me.
With every good wish
May you have a joyous windfall soon

Foreword
We all need reminders about how much we can do if we put our hearts and minds to it.
Shridhar’s inspiring collection of stories is a gentle tap on the shoulder to help us pay attention to the wonderful opportunities life provides if we’re willing to keep moving and keep exploring. In Done is Better Than Perfect, Shridhar shares lessons he has learned that enriched his life.
They are his insights yet appropriate and true for us all. His stories simply and humbly communicate that what matters most in this life is living it: fully, gratefully, and bravely. With helpful quotes that capture the essence of his message, he coaxes us to explore what we can do if we don’t overburden ourselves with self-doubt and fear. He helps us remember that the prison of perfectionism is one we create and therefore one we can release.
The reflective questions at the end of each story help us examine our insights and move closer to action. In writing this book Shridhar Models the Way, he ends the procrastination
caused by fear of judgment and acceptance. He shares his insight with an open heart hoping readers will be inspired to live fully, with equal parts of vulnerability and faith.
I suspect Done is Better Than Perfect will be a book you return to again and again and share with those you hope to inspire.
