The Course of 10,000 Days
An Introduction and Welcome
It was once said by author Barbara Geraci that Our background and circumstances may have influenced who we are, but we are responsible for who we become.
I believe this to be true. It certainly is at the heart of what The Course of 10,000 Days teaches us.
The Course of 10,000 Days is a philosophy and credo that I learned from my client and friend, Ajay Shivani, in 2005. It embraces many of the finest tenets of Eastern philosophy and Western practices and beliefs.
At first, I was reluctant to embrace the teachings and practices of The Course. But, over time I began to see its wisdom and common sense approach to life. Since 2005, The Course has changed my life by helping me learn how to control my Ego, balance my Emotions, and reconnect with my Inner Spirit.
In the process of applying the tenets of The Course of 10,000 Days, I discovered my higher purpose and began to achieve many of my life goals and dreams. In essence, good things began to happen in my life as I allowed my Inner Spirit – instead of my Ego -- to guide my thoughts, behaviors, actions and beliefs.
In this Book of Daily Inspiration & Weekly Exercises from The Course of 10,000 Days, I hope you will find your path to greater happiness, fulfillment, abundance and joy in life. I can tell you this: it is there for the asking! I know this to be true.
The late Stephen Covey reminded us that as we explore that unchartered path of personal development, we must be patient with ourselves because self-growth is tender; it’s holy ground, and there is no greater investment.
I believe The Course of 10,000 Days to be holy ground
in that it challenges you to discover your higher purpose by creating a tender balance between your Ego, Emotions and Inner Spirit.
As part of your journey, each week you will be asked to complete a Weekly Exercise. Many of these exercises relate to the Journey of Life Assessment tool [see the diagram below] used in The Course of 10,000 Days Retreats, which are offered throughout the year by The 10,000 Days Foundation. This wheel of life
tool represents the eight elements that dominate just about every aspect of our lives. In the diagram below, you can review the eight elements and assess where you are strong, or where you require improvement.
Every quote in this Book of Daily Inspiration & Weekly Exercises from The Course of 10,000 Days relates to one or more of the eight elements of the Journey of Life Assessment wheel. And so, this book is also an excellent resource and guide to help you on your journey to fulfillment.
I look forward to meeting you at one of our future Life Balance Retreats or 10,000 Days Foundation programs. As always, I also welcome your comments and feedback.
