    Jenny looked through the glass at the creature inside the tank. It was something that her uncle had caught, a strange creature with long spindly limbs like an octopus. But it didn't look particularly octopus-like; Jenny had checked the pictures in the guidebook on the ship; the head was all wrong, and it didn't move about the tank. It just sat there, as if frozen. Jenny had asked her uncle if it was still alive, and her uncle said yes, of course, it ate the food that we gave it. Why would it be alive? Jenny had her doubts, given that she was quite a bit smarter than her uncle, but he wasn't lying about it eating the food. No one actually saw it eat the food of course; it was just there one minute, then gone the next when you weren't looking. The thing had impeccably fast eating skills.

    In fact, it didn't match any of the pictures in the book. Jenny frowned and pressed a hand against the glass. What an odd thing.
