Finding ones mate is not always easy. Not everyone's mate is always the same species and the Council knows this, so they designed a way for all types of shifters and other paranormals to come together. Have some fun, meet new people, and if you are one of the lucky ones....find your mate.
Just being a skunk shifter, isn't easy. Try being a skunk as well as a socially inept genius. For Ricky, that was his life. However, he was now at the Mating Games to try and change who he is. He wanted a mate. He wanted someone that would love him for who he is and not think him strange or boring.
Derk had been trying to find his mate for years. With the urging of his best friend, Derk said he would give the Mating Games gathering one last chance. Being the quarterback to the large shifter football team requires lots of practice. However, he didn't expect it to bring him to his adorable mate.

I love being surrounded by nature and wildlife and there is nothing like sitting and watching the birds, squirrels and chipmunks fluttering around my yard or traveling around Canada and finding my mind creating worlds for you all to enjoy. Life is good and I just want to bring some of my happiness into your life and hopefully make you smile, laugh and get away from everyday stress. Hugs and Love to you all and I hope you enjoy my books as much as I enjoy writing them.

    About The Author

    CHAPTER 1

Ricky walked around the camp, just watching as some set up their tents and other's played ball or just raced around the park. Children were laughing, girls were primping, and guys were strutting their stuff.

Ricky was excited and nervous all at the same time. The Mating Games... and he was here and a part of it.

Once every four years the Council put together this gathering, so that all shifters, big and small, meat eater or vegetarian, could come together and participate in events, searching for their mates.

It has been extremely successful in the past. Thousands of shifters and other paranormals have come together, to play some athletic games as they are and not worry about hurting others or having a greater advantage over humans.

Since paranormals and shifters are typically faster and stronger than humans, they are not permitted to participate in the human world. This gives them an outlet to have some fun and maybe find their mate in the process. Ricky hoped that it would be just as successful for him now.

The rules were simple, you need to be at least eighteen to participate and all matings must be consensual. The last event he was only seventeen but now, at twenty-one, here was his chance. Being a nerd, Ricky was not very good with the social thing. He was shy, and except for his best friend Scamp, a nickname Ricky had given him years ago because of his attitude, and other nerds, Ricky just didn't know how to talk to people.

Oh, my God, Ricky, can you believe it? Can you believe it? We are actually here!

Ricky turned and, sure enough, there was Scamp running towards him.

Hey there, Scamp, I'm glad your family finally made it. I was starting to wonder. Ricky said with a smile.

Scamp scrunched his face as he said, Would you please call me Ian. I'm twenty and looking to start a family, you know.

    Smiling, Ricky said, "Sorry, Ian."

Ian huffed, then said, My stupid sister was being her bitchy self, as usual. She wanted to throw my suitcases out so she could fit her five in the car.

Ricky's smile broadened as he asked, Oh, and how many were you trying to bring?

Ian's mouth thinned in displeasure as he said, I only had three.

Ricky laughed as he shook his head, So how many did your dad let you bring?

Crossing his arms over his chest, Ian mumbled, Two each.

Throwing his head back, Ricky's burst of laughter could be heard echoing around the park.

Ian sniffed, It isn't that funny.

Yes, it is. You are such a flamer. Ricky said as he wiped the tears from his eyes.

Ian's eyebrow rose as he said, Oh really, and you're not? You have your black hair with white tips, and if I'm not mistaken, that's black eye liner surrounding your blue eyes, and what nail polish are you wearing?

Ricking held his hand up admiring his new tips he just had done as he said, It's called Magnetic Marble, and the hair thing isn't fair, it's naturally that way.

Ian snorted, My point is that you and I have been best friends since we were five, and we are exactly the same, minus the hair thing.

A group of girls came towards Ricky and Ian and stopped. The blond turned to the red head and sniffed, Do you smell that?

Looking at Ian and Ricky she asked, Which one of you smells good enough to eat?

Ian and Ricky looked at each other and Ricky smiled, saying, Hey, don't look at me, I'm a skunk. Then began walking away.

Ian ran to catch up yelling, I can't smell, I'm a bat.

Snorting, Ricky said, What the heck does that have to do with anything, Ian?

    What? Ian asked, affronted.

Whether you can smell or not has nothing to do with your actual smell. Ricky said with a shake of his head.

Ian huffed, So what? You wanted me to tell them that you might be a skunk, but damn, I hear you always smell so good?

    Bumping shoulders, Ricky said, "Oh,
