Asia Marquis

Black. Thick. Proud. These are the words that describe Asia Marquis. Asia is a saucy woman from Detroit who writes multicultural stories that any woman could enjoy. With a special interest in interracial romance, most of her books focus on white billionaires falling in love with and seducing big, beautiful black women. She knows that every black woman needs that sort of delicious romance in her life. A strong man that will take care of her every need! Outside of writing fiction, Asia is passionate about cooking, dancing, and dog training. She runs a side business training guard dogs, and loves every second she gets to spend with her German Shepherd, Rex. She has a daughter who is 13 now, and any boy that's looking to cause trouble can be ready to have Rex in their face! Asia is a fierce mama who won't take nonsense from hormonal teenagers! Asia was a ballet dancer all through middle and high school, and even played the Black Swan in Swan Lake.

    Out! Get out, James!

My boyfriend, now ex, stumbles out of the house that we both bought only a few months ago. His breath is laced with curses as I throw out the last box of his stuff, this one full of photos of other women. Women he slept with, in this house, on my bed.

    You can't do this!

Sure I can! Your name isn't on the papers anywhere. Go sleep with one of your side bitches, because you're not sleeping here! I flip him off as I shut the door and lock it.

Sliding down it, I press my body against the door to keep it shut as he pounds his fists on it. Aviona, you better open this god damn door right now!

Eventually he stops. He goes away, taking the boxes of his stuff with him, and finally this nightmare of a month is over.

Only not really. When I stand up again, I see the pile of bills on my kitchen table. The bills he hasn't paid for months and are now left on my shoulders, after I lost my job. I'm living on unemployment, and you can bet your ass it isn't going to cover all of this debt.

Maybe I have to sell the house.

The thought makes my heart ache. Even though it's filled with memories of James, I don't want to lose the security that this place gives me. I pat my hair down. It's natural, curly and rough.

I nearly jump through my skin when my phone rings. I scramble to pick it up, checking to see if it's a debt collector before I answer it.

Oh, hey Tanisha. I sigh. What's up, girl?

There's music blaring on the other side. This girl has no damn manners, bless her soul.

Aviona! Come out with us. It's been weeks since you went dancing, you're gonna lose it!

Gonna lose what, exactly? I laugh. Alright, I need a distraction. I kicked James out.

She gasps. No way! I'm so happy for you! I told you that nigga was a no good cheating piece of shit, didn't I?

Rolling my eyes, I bite my tongue. Yeah, you did. What I don't say is that she says that about everyone I try to date. I hate when she's right, though.

Alright girl, I'll pick you up in an hour!

After we hang up, I let myself freak out for a few seconds before I bottle those emotions back up. I can deal with them tonight before bed. Not right now. Right now, I need to treat myself to some fun.

Even though Tanisha is annoying, she's certainly fun. She knows how to party. When she pulls up in the driveway, a smile immediately creeps onto my face and I run out the door.

We decide to go to a new club tonight, to change things up and avoid any bad memories. Tanisha, as always, looks both stunning and slutty. I'm a bit more reserved in my clothing, but she tells me I look hot anyway.

You gonna bring a boy home tonight? I bet that'll help you forget all about that asshole, she says, sipping on a fruity drink. Turn up, then get down with some random. Right?

I don't know, Tanisha. That doesn't sound like a good idea. I'm not ready to go back to one night stands.

She shrugs and finishes off her drink before pulling me out onto the dance floor. I place my hands on her curves, and we dance like we used to. She's drunk, so she almost falls over a few times, but I help hold her up as we gyrate and gain the attention of every man in the bar.
