Bearly Lovers Book 2 Kylan and Cheri

    Prologue

The twin grizzly’s wandered through their territory making sure everything was quiet and no others had breached their domain. They both heard a noise and looked up in time to see a small engine plane in distress with thick black smoke coming from out and choking nearby birds.

Both bears looked at each other and made the decision to go check out the inevitable crash and possible survivors. Neither one expected to find anyone alive but there was always a slim chance. If there happened to be survivors then the bears would have to take them to the nearest town for treatment and off the bear territory.

The twins came to the area where the wreckage should be and only saw a lone body lying still on the forest floor. They both shifted to their human forms to better check it out safely and not scare the person if they were still alive.

It’s a woman, the younger of the twins commented. But where’s the plane? His brother looked up into the trees and saw what was left of the plane entangled in the branches.

How the hell did she get down? the older twin asked. Suddenly they both heard a soft moan coming from the woman. The older twin walked quickly over to her and knelt down to check her injuries.

She wore a grey tank top that was half covered in blood and jean shorts that fell almost to her knees. Her face had numerous cuts and bruising was already beginning to show. Her arms were also cut pretty bad from the crash. Her blond hair looked like it could have been close to the color of wheat. A beautiful golden blond but the right side was dark red in color from an obvious head injury. She was also clutching a black bag tightly in her hand.

Her eyes fluttered open and caught his gaze. Help Charlie. Please When he looked up the older twin saw his brother already scrambling up the tree towards the wreckage. He watched as he looked inside the remnants of the plane and began to climb back down.

The pilot’s dead. Tree branch broke through the windshield and went straight through his heart. Probably died instantly.

Go get Hannah and meet me back at the house.

Wait. What? Are you seriously thinking about taking her into clan land?

She needs help. Now go get Hannah.

What about the council? She’s an outsider. A human.

I’ll deal with the council. Now go. He watched as his younger twin headed towards the center of clan land. Then he stooped down and gently picked up the injured woman. He didn’t know what it was but something was drawing him to her and telling him to keep her safe. He would question those thought later.

    Chapter One

Cass awoke with the feeling that had been hit by a Mack truck. Her whole body was sore and her head was throbbing. She didn’t remember going drinking the night before. Her head was fuzzy on any details that may have happened.

As her senses started becoming more alert she realized she was lying in a soft bed. Charlie’s guestroom had a mattress that was hard as a rock. And the room didn’t smell like Charlie’s place either. The sheets were satiny smooth and the room smelled Earthy and very much male dominated.

Cass attempted to open her eyes and saw nothing but blackness. She slowly reached up and felt some kind of bandage around her head. She realized the room smelled too good for it being in a hospital and wondered where she was at. Before panic could set in she heard a deep male voice speak just to her left side.

I see you are awake. How are you feeling?

Where am I and who are you? Cass was trying not to freak out knowing this was no hospital and some strange man had her in his bed.

My name is Travis Coleman. My brother Toby and I found you and brought you back to our home to get you better. That was quite an accident you had. It’s a wonder you survived.

Accident? What accident? Cass was really confused now. The last thing she remembered was having dinner with Charlie at Café Jax.

You were in a plane crash, Travis told her.

What plane crash? I don’t own a plane.

How she doing Travis? Another deep voice spoke from what she assumed was the end of the bed.

She’s seems to be having some memory loss. This is my brother Toby. Now, let’s see how bad this might be. Can you tell me your name?

Cassandra Evans but everyone calls me Cass.

Alright Cass, where are you from?

I’m from Indiana but went to see a friend in Montana. Cass was starting to get more and more nervous. She still couldn’t see and now there are two men in the room with her.

You said you didn’t own a plane, Toby said. Was it your husband’s plane maybe?

Oh, no, I’m not married. The only person I knew that had a plane was Charlie. He’s a friend of my dad’s.

Toby, go get Hannah and tell her our guest is awake.

Why me? What about Cheri? Toby complained.

Cheri isn’t here yet and I asked you to go.

Fine. Toby replied in an exaggerated huff as he turned to leave the room.

I swear he acts like he’s ten years younger instead of only ten minutes. Travis commented while shaking his head.

Cass gave a slight smile at the brothers’ antics. Who is Hannah?

Hannah is our healer. She has been here at least twice a day to check and change your bandages on your arms and head. She told us to let her know when you woke up if it was before she returned. Travis watched her nod her understanding. Cheri is our younger sister. She has helped with trying to clean your hair and dressing you.

A healer? Are you … Native American or something?

No, we are not Native American but we have been around for many years.

Cass was a little confused on things but so far neither brother seemed to mean her harm and they had saved her life. She still wondered exactly where she was at. She only remembered having dinner with Charlie and talking to him about going out to Alkali Lake so she could photograph some of the wildlife. Now she had Travis telling her she was in a plane crash and had not mentioned anything about Charlie.

So, Cass, what brings you to Eureka? Travis asked breaking into her thoughts. You mentioned about coming to see a friend. Was it this Charlie you mentioned?

"Yes it was. Where is Charlie anyways? If I was in a plane crash he would
