After several hours, they landed in the mountains, and a new team of secret service immediately escorted him into a large, hidden silo where other government officials milled about in mild panic. The descent into the mountain took twenty minutes before they reached the door, a huge vault somehow carved into the mountain itself. A nuclear blast would barely scratch it even if it were on the surface. He doubted they would know if the world ended from this depth. Claustrophobia overcame a few of them as the door sealed itself. It felt very likely that none of them would ever see daylight again.
