    About the Author

    Seize the Season

There have been many stories from history that can help us build teams for today. When members of a team understand how teams are built and can see the same vision as their leadership does, great things can happen.

The purpose of this booklet is to provide coaches with messages to inspire young people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to focus on the importance and power of teamwork in their lives. The best compliment any athlete can receive is that they are a great teammate. The best times of our lives are when we are part of something bigger than ourselves, and the best use of our energies and talents is to contribute to others - to create a team.

Coaches and athletes in leadership positions should do everything they can to create a great team experience. Your opportunities are limited. Don’t miss your chance.

    Great teams are built on:

    • The vision of leadership

    • Trust

    • Honor, integrity, and courage

    • Selflessness, humility and all roles have equal value

    • Discipline and commitment.

The following collection of stories are examples of teams and athletes whose foundation were built on those character traits.

    See Beyond Today

    Iroquois Tribe

The importance of these decisions, was based on the impact for seven generations. Rather than thinking of the benefits of today, they wanted to make sure that they wanted to see the potential benefits or potential harm that their decision would create for the future of their tribe.
