    Amelia’s Fantasy

Amelia was growing tired of relationships, what with their complications and unrealistic expectations. She had loved and lost just like everybody, and one day she would probably love again, but right now she was over it. However, she wasn’t over men completely. She was a vibrant woman and she still had needs that were best fulfilled by male company.

No, all she desired right now was something completely meaningless and anonymous, something totally primal with absolutely no expectations beyond the encounter and definitely no strings attached. She didn’t even want to know much about the guy she planned to meet for this one-off tryst, other than what he looked like and whether there was a physical attraction there.

All that was left to do was to find this man.

Right now she was on her iPhone scrolling through profiles on Zoosk, a popular dating app. There was a mixture of people seeking long-term partners and more casual encounters. She didn’t bother targeting anyone who was remotely looking for a relationship, or even friends with benefits. She just wanted a simple hi, do the deed, then say goodbye. Even though she was sure many of the men on Zoosk would probably be up for that, just about all of them seemed reluctant to advertise that in their online profiles.

Too ugly, she mumbled to herself as she reclined on the couch and continued to flick through the many, many profiles. Ooh, too desperate looking. The next profile. He looks nice. She started to read through his information and soon realized his entire approach was a wish to find someone to settle down with and start a family with. Amelia grinned. Definitely NOT what I’m looking for right now.

Her eyes were growing a little blurry from staring at the screen for so long. She really needed to remind herself to blink more often when looking at technology. Amelia put the phone down on the floor and went into the kitchen to pour herself a small glass of red wine served at room temperature. She took a few sips, then settled back down on the sofa again, picked up her phone and sat there with her legs crossed under herself, drinking wine and perusing more profiles.

Eventually she came across a good looking guy whose profile sounded something along the lines she was looking for. She managed to read between the lines and figured he was a good possibility, so she sent him a brief message just saying hello to break the ice. The app told her that he was currently online, so while waiting for a response – if she happened to get one – Amelia busied herself looking for more possibilities.

By the time she had finished drinking her glass of wine she checked her messages and saw there was a reply. Quickly she opened the message and discovered that the man’s name was Brad. He basically just said hello and asked how her night was going. While Amelia didn’t really want to know much about him, she decided she would have to indulge in a bit of small talk before getting to the point of what she was after. She just sent back a reply saying she was having a quiet night at home drinking a few wines. Brad responded immediately saying he was doing the same thing and feeling a bit bored.

She went to the kitchen and poured another glass of wine, all the while contemplating her next move with Brad. Did she want to arrange a discreet meeting tonight, or set one up for another occasion?

She indulged in a bit more light chit-chat while she thought about it. One thing she was sure of: She definitely didn’t want to meet at her place or his. It would have to be a hotel or somewhere.

I’m not looking for any sort of relationship or commitment.

Amelia made the decision to get down to business.

    I’m OK with that.

She smiled when she read Brad’s reply, and responded with a message stating exactly what she was after, and that the meeting had to take place somewhere neutral.

I’m willing to pay for a hotel room, Amelia, if you’re happy with that?

Not some seedy out-of-town motel. Something in the city.

There was a delay of about five minutes before Brad messaged again, this time with details of the hotel he’d booked and the room number. Amelia sent a reply saying she would meet him in the hotel lobby in an hour.

When she was in the bedroom getting ready for her ‘date’, she wondered if she was being wise meeting a total stranger in a hotel for casual sex. This Brad guy could be anybody. Could be a serial killer or a sexual predator. She would know when she saw him. She was big on vibes and was confident she would pick up on anything negative straight away when they met. Besides, the hotel he’d chosen was right in the heart of the city. There would be plenty of people about.

She dressed in a sexy black dress with matching underwear and stockings. In the bathroom she didn’t go all out on the make up, applying just enough to enhance the best features of her face, which were definitely her eyes and lips. The last touch was to spray on some perfume, after which she stood there a moment nervously eyeing her reflection in the mirror.

Having downed four wines by now Amelia decided she better
