Prologue

Several weeks earlier…

The instant twenty-seven-year-old Santana spotted the pretty bridesmaid enter the church, the ice lacing his heart cracked wide open and his long-buried dream of finding a good woman he could share his life with jump started back to life. In a split second he had hope of finally having a future. The emotion hit him so fast and so hard he swore if he hadn’t been sitting, he would have fallen on his ass and made a fool of himself.

She was tall. She had a curvy build and her breasts pushed real nice against the bodice of her red bridesmaid dress. With her blonde hair splashing like a gold waterfall over her shoulders, she looked so incredibly attractive he swore he’d never look at another woman again.

The dress hugged her curves like a glove and in her hands she held a bunch of dark red roses that matched her lipstick and nail polish.

Immediately he noted she wore no wedding band and he remembered the few times that the bride, Tania Sparks, had mentioned her youngest sister.

Her name was Amy. Yeah, Amy. He liked that name on her. She owned some kind of clothing shop. Unmarried. Tania had joked that Amy was like a tomboy and if she didn’t clean up her act she’d be single forever.

Santana smiled. If he had his way, she’d be married to him in no time flat. He just knew that she would be sweet and innocent. A girl any man would love to have as his wife.

She had the palest blue eyes as she stared straight ahead. When she passed him, her sweet scent wrapped around him and held him tight. He groaned inwardly as his body tightened in wicked awareness and his cock hardened in sharp response.

She took her place at the front of the church near the bride and groom, and beside her other sister Beth, the maid of honor. As the wedding proceeded, he could barely keep his gaze from straying to Amy. His heart burst with excitement whenever he looked at her. He enjoyed the cute way she worried her lower lip as the vows were read. He liked how her eyes welled up with tears as the groom kissed the bride.

He knew it was dangerous to feel any emotion for a woman. He shouldn’t even think about a future with anyone. Especially because his past could come back and crucify him at any time. But Amy looked sweet and delicious and so damned sexy that it hurt to have her stand not more than ten feet away and he could do nothing but watch her and wish he was a different man.

When the ceremony was over, he tried to catch her gaze as an usher guided her down the aisle. She stared straight ahead, but then without warning she turned her head and those blue eyes locked onto him and his breath halted.

No woman had looked at him like this before. With such want. Such need. It was as if she were branding him as her own without even realizing she was doing it. He had no option but to return a stare.
