About this ebook
Its Friday the 13th, and a couple are meeting up for dinner on an arranged blind date. Intrigued with one another, both seemingly opposites, they start to play a little guessing game in their efforts to discover more about each other. What starts off innocently builds into deeper and deeper mysteries and ultimately to a life altering bet that has murderous implications.

All my stories are being released posthumously. Oh wait, I'm not dead - at least not yet. Been close a couple of times and perhaps that drives some of the subject matter I write about. Anyway, I have completed seventeen short stories - ten of which I've published at the time of this writing, and also a Novella. More to come. The novel on the other hand is the literary temple at which I worship. I've got quite a few of those too, which I will publish soon. They run the gamut from murder mysteries, ghost stories, quasi horror, love stories, haunting's, dark humor, and in many cases all of the above. Basically I write whatever shows up or I guess whatever's floating around my psyche. How it gets there and why I don't really know? And maybe that's the best part of all, the exploration. Starting with nothing and ending up with something. Any way, if you've read me, I am humbled and I am grateful. Thanks, C Belding

It was a cold and windy night in the city of Boston, when a couple met up for dinner on what was a bind date. It was ten o’clock on a Friday evening and the choice of a late dinner had been his suggestion. But this Friday was no ordinary Friday, it was Friday the 13th.
She had just arrived on foot at the very private eatery. It was roughly three blocks from her apartment. Her best friend Kate had set up the date, and she was more than a little curious about the mystery guy she was about to meet. She had a brief idea of what he looked like, but Kate had been rather coy in her description of him. Kate had said that he was a different kind of guy. She was intrigued.
She was just about to reach for the brass door handle of the inviting Bistro, when a yellow cab pulled up to the curb. It made her hesitate, and she wondered if it was possibly him. The cab door opened and a man stepped out. He paid the cabbie and turned around. He was well-dressed in a nice suit and complimenting overcoat, quite good-looking, and within the age bracket Kate had suggested. It quickly made her wish that he was in fact her blind date. They quickly made eye contact and he smiled at her. Are you…?
he started to say.
