    You Are Enough - Irina

    you.

    Chapter One

    Dark times

Small bedroom… Dark blue curtains and dark wallpapers. Looked like all the room reflected an inner state of Ai, a little tiny eleven years Chinese boy with tremendously beautiful but incredibly sad eyes which were unusual for a child of that age.

Ai means loving but he, certainly, didn’t feel loved sitting alone on the bed of his bedroom in a rented apartment in Lisbon. A single fly fighting for the life in a spider´s web gave some more anguish to the room.

When Ai was two years old, his mother, who was a very beautiful and intelligent woman died from breast cancer. Ai felt her love and her presence all the time in spite of not knowing her at all. His father Mr Cheung was a very successful forty-five years old lawyer who took a full responsibility for a child on his shoulders after death of his wife. Financially, he gave everything to his son, but emotionally - nothing. He was very cold and never gave even a hug to his only son. Mr Cheung never had time for Ai. For that it was always one excuse – his job.

Until seven years old Ai lived in China and felt himself pretty good until the decision of Mr Cheung to leave for Portugal. This decision changed a whole life of a little boy. Definitely, it was shocking news for Ai but he didn´t have an option as only to follow his father.

The adaptation to an absolutely different country, food, language and culture was very difficult for our little boy.

Everything was so strange for him. The only desire he had was to return home.

Nightmares began when he went to school. There was no any Chinese boy or a girl in a whole school. He was different. So children started to tease him, intimidate him, and call names. They were just ugly.

Day by day Ai started to feel himself inferior and worthy of a bad treatment. Shame of him was a constant feeling he felt. Worst of all Ai did not share his terrible experience with anybody and he didn´t have anybody. Bitterness filled all his heart. Children who treated Ai badly made him believe that he was not good enough and not worthy enough just the way he was. The only escape of this hard reality was music. The only friend he had was piano. Here alone with his only friend he felt himself free and happy. He expressed all his emotions through the music. All his shy personality transformed to a confident genius when he touched a piano. Definitely, Ai was a genius. He composed music. He composed a very beautiful and divine music. God channelled through him.

When Ai played, his heart was full of love and light. He was in another dimension where only peace and love and God existed. Nobody knew how talented this boy was. For Mr Cheung it was only a hobby of son.

During a break at school Ai got used to sit down on the bench alone observing children playing and laughing with each other.

He felt himself so alone and so small. He felt that the entire world was against him.

Mr Cheung spent more and more time in his office and less time with his son. He saw Ai twice a day: in the morning when took him to school and in the evening when he took him away from school. Mr Cheung didn´t remember the last time when he spoke friendly with Ai.

The distance between son and father was so big that in the presence of each other they felt themselves very uncomfortable. It was like a stone wall which neither Mr Cheung nor Ai wanted to break. More and more Mr Cheung started to think about the idea of his colleague Mr Lucio to hire a governess Mrs Paula Ramos for his son.

In the evening Mr Cheung decided to call to Mrs Paula. A very pleasant woman´s voice rang out from the receiver.

Good evening. This is Mr Cheung. Can I speak with Mrs Paula Ramos, please?

Good evening, Mrs Paula Ramos is speaking.

Well, my colleague Mr Lucio recommended you as a governess for my eleven years old son, said Mr Cheung desperately.

I am afraid it is not possible because I don´t work anymore, replied Mrs Paula with a sadness in her voice.

But I need you so much and I don´t want to leave my son with somebody whom I don´t know. Mr Lucio said that you are a brilliant governess. Please, we came from China and my son has a lot of difficulties with Portuguese. I need help, please, begged Mr Cheung what was unusual for his character.

Mrs Paula was ready to say no again when her inner voice whispered to say yes. She decided to listen that voice.

Ok, Mr Cheung, said Mrs Paula. I see that you really need my help. When can I start?

Tomorrow, you can start tomorrow! exclaimed Mr Cheung happily.

Unexpected news about the governess during dinner didn´t make Ai happy.

What? The governess? I don´t need the governess. I don´t need anyone. I am good alone! said Ai angry.

I don´t have any time to check your homework and study Portuguese with you, Ai. You will have the governess. It is my last word. Now wash your teeth and go to sleep, said Mr Cheung losing his patience. "Tomorrow Mrs
