All major religious and spiritual traditions are jam-packed with homilies urging forgiveness, and a squillion inspirational quotes on Instagram would have you believe forgiveness is the only emotionally mature, spiritually enlightened, morally preferable response to being wronged.
I don’t buy it.
Obviously, there are instances when the most logical, ease-filled path is to make room for any slight, forgive and move on. But forgiveness is always optional and often entirely unnecessary.
Not forgiving someone doesn’t mean you walk around
