Shine bright

Since time began, humans have strived to fit in with the tribe. Our survival depended upon it. Although the stakes are lower these days, the need to blend in continues. Yet when we are taught to show only the parts of ourselves deemed as ‘acceptable’ or ‘normal’, we create a mask. Temporarily, and superficially, this may appear to increase our resilience but what’s really going on beneath it?

Contrary to popular belief, demonstrating resilience isn’t limited to strengthening the traits we are most proud of or praised for. Many experts believe it’s about having a deeper awareness of the hidden sides of our personality – also known as our shadow aspects. By embracing these, we can truly harness resilience, and other positive qualities.
