James Siler, Jr
James Siler Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pa and raised in both Philly and Sedalia, North Carolina. He was raised around music his whole life. His mother could sing and his father played a numerous amount of instruments which automatically helped develop an interest in music in him. James studied music theory(piano) since he was 5 years old. This gave him the back-bone he needed to thoroughly root himself into the science of music. He went to college in North Carolina and minored in business so he could root himself with the basics of business. He also became a part of a internationally, well known drum-line called "Cold Steel" in college which helped polish his leadership skills. God knew what he was doing by directing him down the path he was taking because James was about to experience a dramatic lifestyle change. During his sophomore year at North Carolina A&T State University, James was introduced to professional depths of the music industry by learning hands-on how to become a sound engineer in a professional state of the art studio while working with professional/ national talent. He knew that learning engineering would be like being a car mechanic in this economy. Everyone will need one sooner or later. Working at this major studio allowed James to network with everyone involved in any session, from the executives down to the groupies, and most of all, have FREE access to use the recording studio any time he wanted. He worked as a professional sound engineer/ producer and then mix engineer, for over 19 years which gave him the most profound wisdom about how the music industry really works behind the scene. James started a company by the name of SILER Entertainment Group that would focus on artist development, music theory and business education so that the many people interested in perusing a music career has a heads up on what they were getting themselves into. Siler Entertainment Group was founded in 2006 as a business devoted to implementing national programs that support the arts and culture, unite communities and strengthen families through non-traditional cross-cultural entertainment.SILER Entertainment's vision is to enhance awareness and appreciation to the importance of positive interaction between cultures, families and communities, by developing successful long-term relationships through partnerships with private and public resources with similar views, while exposing the negative..

recording Artist Beware! Many corporate executives in the music industry use these 50 Laws of CONTROL without you every knowing it. This book will enlighten you on the corruption that exists in the music industry—in detail—and how these 50 Laws of CONTROL influence their decision making on a daily basis. Due to the massive number of people trying to enter into the various areas of the music industry, having first-hand knowledge of these 50 Laws of CONTROL may save your life.
INTRO
One of the largest moneymakers in the world is the business of making music. This business includes several aspects of control as it relates to the artists—marketing, promoting, managing, legal advising, publishing, licensing, copyrighting and patenting, sound scanning, educating and developing, duplicating, distributing, video taping (filming), touring and imaging, collection agencies, the Broadcast Data System (BDS), and receiving royalties. These are just a few of the parts that keep the wheels of this machine (affectionately referred as the music industry
) turning. These elements are ALWAYS feeding and/or enhancing one another; however, it is rare to find someone who is searching for the truth about the many facets of the music industry. Many professionals in the entertainment business could probably tell you stories about negative hands-on experiences they encountered with their employers, the valuable lessons they learned during their struggles, and how they overcame those challenges to get them where they are today. Although hands on
experiences have their place, there are some laws or basic rules that you should be aware of before blindly leaping into the music industry.
As mentioned earlier, several executives in the music industry use these 50 Laws of CONTROL every day. Another reason for writing this book was to help you understand what is really going on in the minds of some of the most powerful people in the music industry.
Some people involved in the industry believe that paying your dues
will make you a stronger person and that doing things for them, even though in your gut you feel is wrong, is the only way you will really learn about this industry. Although times are constantly evolving in the music industry (such as technological advancements, changes in music genres, etc.), there still are about 80 percent of individual artist working in the music industry that are clueless about the main "reason for the season"—the love of MONEY.
MONEY! The purpose of any industry is to MAKE money. They depend on money to continue their operations. However, some industries do whatever it takes to make money, even if it means ripping people off (scams). When corporate executives in this industry settle into that state of mind, anything goes. Consider, for example, how the food industry makes products and encourages people to buy products that taste good—knowing that
