About this ebook

Andrea Stevens made up a husband to get a job. Problem is, people at her work want to meet David, her truck driving husband. Her best friend Fiona has a brother called David. Thinking that would easily solve the problem, Andrea decides to hire him on her terms to be her faux husband over the St Valentine's Day weekend. All he has to do is be at her side. How hard could that be?

Andrea soon discovers that her 'husband' isn't someone she can use for her own purposes. David has ideas of his own. He wants to see how far he can push her until her control breaks. Cupid and raw male sex appeal. This wasn't part of the plan.
"So, my name is David, I drive a truck, and we've been married how long?" The man with the short, blond, spiky hair looked at the woman in query.
"Two years." Andrea Stevens figured two years sounded just about the right amount of time for a relationship to be settled yet not so much that the honeymoon stage was long gone. It also allowed for the odd slip-up in case either of them got something wrong.
"And are we happy?"
Andrea thought about that for a moment. Happy? Was happiness what she needed at the moment? How did that fit into the scheme of things? "I dunno. Is that important?" Would that make this more realistic?
He grinned. "It should be if we're married."
She steeled herself to not dissolve under his grin—lopsided and cute, with an edge of I-could-be-so-bad-for-you-in-a-good-way. She didn't need that in her life at the moment. She needed a husband for the sudden round of Valentine's day functions she'd been roped into due to work. Sweet Love Catering was all about love. The owners lived and breathed it. They saw the world in loving couples and made sure any event they catered was a love extravaganza in epic pink and red I-love-you heart proportions.

    Chapter One

So, my name is David, I drive a truck, and we've been married how long? The man with the short, blond, spiky hair looked at the woman in query.

Two years. Andrea Stevens figured two years sounded just about the right amount of time for a relationship to be settled yet not so much that the honeymoon stage was long gone. It also allowed for the odd slip-up in case either of them got something wrong.

    And are we happy?

Andrea thought about that for a moment. Happy? Was happiness what she needed at the moment? How did that fit into the scheme of things? I dunno. Is that important? Would that make this more realistic?

He grinned. It should be if we're married.

Andrea's view of the world was paying the bills, drinking too much coffee and running each morning to work off the chocolate she ate the night before. Anything else, like love or men? Oh, complicated. Hence the reason for her fake husband. This man was strictly someone who would make her look 'normal' in the eyes of her workplace for a short amount of time. But we're not married.

This is like in the movies. The heroine needs a man and—

Andrea held up her hand to stop him. There would be no Hollywood style deviations by him. David, she began, thankful his name actually was David, because they would avoid any embarrassing slip-ups when she spoke to him while around others. I don't need a man. That was set in stone. Men were too complicated. What she wanted never meshed with what they needed. I just require someone of the male species to stand beside me at a couple of work functions and look like he adores me. She made up a truck driving, always on the road husband, David, who no one saw but everyone believed she had. Her only problem? Her boss assumed 'David' would be home for Valentine's day, hence the reason she was planning on using this particular David in an attempt to make herself look 'normal'. Yeah, good luck with that, girl.

    That sounds pretty cold.

I'm a cold person. The last man she dated, told her so. You're frigid. Icebergs are warmer than you. Of course that particular man had been a prick, and the thought of him touching her made her stomach tighten and her shoulders go rigid, so being considered frosty with him was only natural.

    I doubt that.

You don't know me. She pushed back a stray lock of dark brown hair that had escaped her shoulder length ponytail.

He smiled at that. Of course I do. I'm your husband.

Andrea considered her options. Good. A smart man was a careful man and he avoided saying too much. The whole sexy thing he had going on was a bonus. It never hurt for people to be blinded by beauty, for so often it hid any possible flaws in a plan. Okay, you're going to have to do.

I'm so flattered, he replied with a smile.

Whatever. You're what I require at the moment.

It's always nice to be needed.

He sounded like he believed she was dependant on him. Male
