PAUL

Paul knocked back his cold beer as he took in the dimly lit surroundings. It was a Wednesday afternoon, it was pay day, and his working week had been such a shit that he wanted to forget about it all with a few cold beers. His friend Erik was with him that evening helping him to put the miseries of life behind them, as one does with friends.

Erik was a work colleague who he had a few drinks with from time to time but other than that they didn’t really socialise together much as they lived on opposite sides of town. They had gone out for dinner with their spouses probably three times over the two years they had worked together. They texted often and exchanged emails but rarely bothered to put in time together physically apart from a few beers after work.

You know, said Erik, dragging Paul out of his day dreaming. I was reading the other day that more than 50% of married people now cheat on their partners at some stage of their marriage. It seems like every second woman is up for it, weird isn’t it? Paul looked at his friend and nodded.

Sally knew that Paul was out at the pub with his friend, she took the time to sit back and relax and catch up on her emails. After twenty years of marriage she didn’t need to worry about him having a few beers with his friend. She trusted him.

She sat back and pondered that thought for a moment.

She trusted him, but did it matter? What if he got curious one day, he was a man after all? What if he strayed and sampled some woman’s pussy? Would it be the end of the world?
