In1963, Dr. King had a dream that his four little children would one day live in a nation where their character would be paramount to the color of their skin.

I too have a dream that society will embrace the diversity of girls, pre-teens and teens of color and realize the beauty of their various skin colors and other phenotypic features that make them as extraordinarily beautiful as they are.

I too have a dream that girls, pre-teens and teens of color will embrace the uniqueness of being just who they are, beautiful diamonds that sparkle in the sunset. Diamonds, regardless of the cut, still sparkle.

I too have a dream that girls, pre-teens and teens of color, will begin to love the reflection in the mirror unconditionally, embrace and focus on building their self-love, self-esteem, self-identity, self-respect and self-pride, allowing their inner beauty to radiate on the outside.

I too have a dream that girls, pre-teens, and teens of color will live life beautiful by being Balanced, Empowered, Achievers, Unique, Tenacious, Inspired, Fascinating, Uplifting, and Loving.

This book is for all of the beautiful girls of color in the world. It includes positive affirmations that are designed to help you think, believe and practice positive thoughts. Live Life Beautiful is a book that every girl, pre-teen and teen of color must own, so prepare yourself for an awesome change in the way that you think about everything!

We believe in empowering girls, pre-teens and teens of color to reach higher ground in life by encouraging you to embrace being beautiful on the inside and letting your inner beauty radiate on the outside, the importance of positive thought processes, embracing the foundation elements of beautiful, believing in yourself, and dreaming in color.

The most important focus for you is to believe, with every fiber of your being, that the color of your skin is not a determining factor of what you can or will achieve in life. It is the choices made now, the right choices, that determine the difference later. Accordingly, choosing to live life beautiful is a choice that will begin building the foundation for life-long learning about being BEAUTIFUL (Balanced, Empowered, Achievers, Unique, Tenacious, Inspired, Fascinating, Uplifting and Loving).

Regardless of the color of your skin, the texture of your hair, or other facial features, look in the mirror and acknowledge yourself as a masterpiece. You are a beautiful girl of color! You have a purpose and mission in life first, to love you. Loving yourself will help to build a positive self-image, increases your confidence and you will begin to sparkle like a diamond in the sunset. Take pride in the color of your skin. See yourself as a diamond and marvel at your own sparkle! Imagine how beautiful the world would be if every girl of color realized their sparkle.

Set high standards for yourself and challenge yourself to meet those standards. The sky is the limit and the possibilities are endless. Your dreams are your dreams and it is up to you to turn them into your reality, so dream in color and watch your dreams become your reality.

Reach for the biggest star in the galaxy and claim it as yours. Look forward to a bright, prosperous future filled with good health, an abundance of success, good people in your life, positive thought processes, and keep the negative people, forces and energy at bay. Everything else will fall in line because you are living life beautiful!

Focus on being your own success story and through hard work, dedication, and of course sacrifice, you will achieve your goals, one step at a time.

I Am Beautiful Global, Inc.

History

I Am Beautiful Global, Inc. (IAB) was founded by Dr. Donnamaria Culbreth in 2013 as a component of The Intraracial Colorism Project, Inc. IAB was created as a campaign for girls of color. Through research, projects, and after receiving numerous requests and inquiries from young girls of color about standards of beauty relative to skin color and self-esteem, Dr. Culbreth created the foundation elements of beautiful (self-love, self-esteem, self-identity, self-esteem and self-pride). Thereafter, she created the acronym for BEAUTIFUL (balanced, empowered, achievers, unique, tenacious, inspired, fascinating, unique and loving) and the mission, purpose and core values were created. Dr. Culbreth joined forces with Dr. Julie Jung-Kim and together, they took IAB to new heights. Dr. Jung-Kim expanded IAB to include a global focus on girls of color. In August of 2014, the name of I Am Beautiful-ICP, Inc. was changed to I Am Beautiful Global, Inc.

Self-Love

Loving yourself unconditionally is the first foundation element of BEAUTIFUL. Loving the color of your skin, your appearance, your mind, body and soul are paramount characteristics of self-love. Find the right balance that works for you and love your inner and outer beauty. When you love yourself, your self-esteem, self-identity, self-respect and self-pride are obvious to everyone.

Self-Esteem

Positive self-esteem is the second foundation element of BEAUTIFUL. Confidence in yourself includes confidence in your appearance, your skin color, your style and your focus in life. Believe that the color of your skin is beautiful. You are tenacious! Wear clothing and styles that accentuate your inner and outer beauty. Believe that you are a masterpiece, believe in yourself and set realistic goals. You are empowered and equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities to achieve your personal, educational and career goals. Believe that you are successful and then begin writing your success story.

Self-Identity

Positive self-identity is the third foundation element of BEAUTIFUL. Your self-identity includes the unique characteristics that make up your individuality and personality. Allow yourself to think and act out of the box and do not be afraid to aspire to be the unique beautiful individual that you are.

Self-Respect

Self-respect is the fourth foundation element of BEAUTIFUL. Respect yourself, your skin color, your appearance and the fact that you are a beautiful girl of color. Respect and value your dreams, goals, and focus in life. Remember that your self-respect is reflected in your self-esteem, self-love and self-pride. Most importantly, respect the fact that you are unique and fascinating.

Self-Pride

Self-pride is the fifth foundation block of BEAUTIFUL. Pride yourself in the fact that you are a beautiful girl of color. Take pride in being an achiever and the fact that you are upbeat. By taking pride in the color of your skin, overall appearance, thought processes, and dreams and goals, your self-love, self-respect, and self-esteem will be reflected through your lifestyle.

Balanced in their daily routines, eating healthy meals, exercising, studying hard and being empowered.

Empowered to be the best they can be and reaching for the stars in all that they set out to achieve.

I looked in the mirror and saw someone with a smile that radiates like the sun, with a beautiful hue of skin, warm, tropical, and as smooth as a peach’s skin. A nose that is perfect for her pretty face, and lips that are perfectly shaped. She has a smile that is golden and a style so unique; her hair is beautiful and styled impeccably neat. I said, Wow, who could she be?
