About Our Cover Story – Paris France
Since jet setting is part of such a grand lifestyle, the Insiders’ Lifestyle Guides series theme includes a cultural or travel experience with every book. That is, between promotional junkets, film festivals and red carpet appearances, celebrities can rack up as many frequent-flyer miles as they do trips to rehab. And so can you, once you have an insider bird’s eye view of the possibilities.
Whether traveling by plane or virtually by way of these pages, our cover story, Paris France is highlighted by its lighted sky. There are few places in the world that can boast such powerful icons as the Eiffel Tower, which can own such an embarrassing wealth of architecture and art, and that can also be steeped in such a turbulent and multifaceted history. There is an elegance and finesse about Paris that is hard to miss. Locals are extremely fashionable and it is easy to start feeling out of place on some of the trendier boulevards.
Paris is the capital and largest city of France. It is situated on the river Seine, in northern France, at the heart of the Paris Region. As of January 2009 the city of Paris, within its administrative limits largely unchanged since 1860, has an estimated population of 2,234,105 and a metropolitan population of 12,161,542, and is one of the most populated metropolitan areas in Europe. Paris was the largest city in the Western world for about 600 years prior to the 19th century.
Paris is today one of the world’s leading business and cultural centers, and its influences in politics, education, entertainment, media, fashion, science, and the arts all contribute to its status as one of the world’s major global cities. It hosts the headquarters of many international organizations such as UNESCO the OECD, the International Chamber of Commerce and the European Space Agency. Paris is also considered one of the greenest and most livable cities in Europe. It’s also one of the most expensive cities.

tmp_2ec285c171aeaabe0a24056b81d68474_RiKy_c_html_59fa8d13.pngWhat Your Home Says About You
Everything in the unconscious seeks an outward manifestation. If you want to discover your subconscious dreams, fears, and beliefs, look around your home. The greater control you exercise over your environment, the more closely aligned you become with who you truly are. When you create a home that reflects the transformation that you seek, you create an environment that helps you become who you were meant to be.
Environmental Psychology
An incredibly rich and vast field, environmental psychology examines the interrelationship between environments and human behavior while drawing on a number of disciplines such as psychology, sociology, anthropology, biology, and ecology.
The principles of environmental psychology reveal exactly what makes certain environments supportive and nurturing, while others are unpleasant or stressful. It is also a tremendous asset when it comes to recognizing subconscious meanings and identifying problem areas in the home.
Your home is a template for your life. Once you begin to identify the hidden messages in your home and change those things that do not serve you, you begin to change your life. If you change the template, you change your vibration. For example, the Feng Shui Bagua is an excellent starting point for targeting specific areas in your life.
Make Sure Your Home is a Material Expression of Your Values
Environmental psychology asserts that every object in your home has an influence on you. If you value creativity, does your home possess whimsical items that spark your divine child within? If you want freedom from your overbearing mother-in-law, have you removed that tacky, expensive centerpiece she gave you for Christmas that you dislike? If you want to value yourself more, is your home well maintained and beautiful? Look at everything in your home and make sure it represents what you want in life.
Infuse Your Space with Your Personality
Personal and meaningful objects have a stronger influence over your emotional and mental states than more generalized and impersonal items. You may even want to be creative with your space – make a collage, paint your lampshade, mosaic the top of your dresser. When done with the right intention, personal works of art, especially collages, work on a subconscious level to alter your core beliefs. They have the ability to affect your psyche in a very positive, life-affirming way. With the help of environmental psychology, you may even want to incorporate the use of certain symbols or colors to bolster your intentions.
Clear the Clutter
When you get your life moving, you instinctively want to clear the clutter out of your home and make a fresh start. Sorting out your life by sorting out your junk, results in a tremendous renewal of your life force energy. Clearing the clutter is also a fundamental principle of Feng Shui.
Every aspect of your life is anchored energetically in your living space, so cleaning your clutter can completely transform your entire existence. Everything around you, especially your home environment, mirrors your inner self. So by changing your home you also change the possibilities in your life.
There are four categories of clutter:
1. Things you do not love. You are connected to everything you own by fine strands of energy. When your home is filled with things you love or use, your home becomes an incredible source of support and nourishment for you.
2. Things that are untidy or disorganized. Many of the items seem to just appear in your life, rather than you making a conscious decision to acquire them. Your home is an outward representation of what is going on inside you, so if you are messy on the outside there is a corresponding mess of some kind on the inside too.
3. Too many things in too small a space. Your home starts to feel as if it cannot breathe. Your own breathing will actually become tighter and shallower and you will feel constricted in what you can do in your life.
4. Anything unfinished. Anything unfinished in the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual realms clutters your psyche and they are a constant drain on your energy.
The larger the scale, the more these things impose on your ability to get on with your life. For example, buttons that need sewing on, phone calls you need to make, relationships you need to move on from, and many other different forms of loose ends in your life will delay your progress if you do not deal with them. You will be amazed at how your vitality levels soar if you complete all your unfinished business.
Having clutter can make you feel tired and lethargic. It can keep you in the past. Take responsibility for creating a better tomorrow. Clearing your clutter allows you to begin to deal with your problems and move forward.
Having clutter can also congest your body as well as affect your body weight. It can confuse you, leaving you without clarity. People treat you the way you treat yourself. So if you value yourself and look after yourself, people will treat you well.
Having clutter can make you feel ashamed. Wouldn’t you prefer to have a good clear out, repair your self-esteem, and regenerate your social life with confidence? If not, having clutter can depress you as well.
When you clear out your clutter, you leave yourself free to put the important things of your life in perspective rather than being constantly bogged down in the details of day-to-day life. Life is constant change. So when something comes into your life enjoy it, use it well, and when it is time, let it go.
Everything material is merely energy in transition. You may think you own a house or have money in the bank, but the fact is you don’t even own the body you stand up in. It is on loan from the planet, and after you are done with it, it will be automatically recycled and reappear in different form without you. Your body is a temporary temple of your soul.
If you are engaged in any kind of self-improvement work, you will need to update your environment regularly. Letting go of clutter leaves you free to be you, which is the greatest gift you can ever give yourself.
