About this ebook

This book is the essence of every 'How To' spiritual book published. It has been inspired, practiced and lived by me, the author, and my students and clients.
Enlightenment appears to be dangled in front of followers of the spiritual life, like a carrot that they can never quite catch up to but can't seem to help themselves from chasing. This book is for the benefit of the lay person or the beginner to the spiritual life who maybe thinks attaining peace, freedom and self empowerment is for certain hermit like individuals only.
It teaches a system I have put together, lived and taught, to explain how to use the laws and lessons of life to our advantage, the reasons that the challenges and mysteries of life happen to us and how to make the most of them so we can take control and direct our lives the way we want them to go.
It begins with the story of my life and how and why I was inspired to become a Meditation and Spiritual Growth teacher and healer. It includes the story of an amazing vision that appeared to 'show' me the unique reason for my life. The System is explained within four enlightening realizations about life that occurred to me over the years of my trying to put my vision into practice and endeavoring to understand other people and my life experience. The book concludes with a healing plan for the reader to put in place containing all the ideas, suggestions and methods outlined in the content. Personal stories and those of my friends and students have been included in an effort to illustrate my theories and points of view. It is written in easy to understand terminology, but from a totally spiritual-based point of view. This book has been carefully researched and scientific proof cited to back up all my information. Excellent quotes have been used to illustrate my system and to inspire the reader. The personal stories give great depth and the exercises included give the reader opportunity to practice The System.

    The System

'When we begin to live the greater life, not seek it, so much as simply choose to participate in it,

then and only then do we find that it's all around us, all the time.'

From 'The Gift Of Change.' by Marianne Williamson.(1)

There is a system to living life in freedom and peace and feeling like you have the power in your life, which I am about to share with you.

A magical, awe inspiring system that, when you know the rules and how it works, then, your life works! It flows. Everything falls into place (except for those mysterious things that don't.You always have to leave room for Divine Intervention,) and you get exactly what you planned and dreamed about. Your heart will burst with gratitude, joy and relief. I say relief because just how tired are you of trying, striving, falling short and feeling like you are fighting yet another 'losing battle', beating your head against another 'brick wall', coming up to another 'dead end' and everyone seems to have control of your life except you. So you go back to the treadmill, or 'Tick Tock' as Stuart Wilde, (2) British spiritual writer calls it, broken and defeated. Back to that dead-end job, that loveless relationship, that souless existence 'of quiet desperation' that philosopher Henry David Thoreau says 'the mass of men' live in and you are stressed, depressed and totally unimpressed.

It's not for the faint hearted, The System. Freedom and power never are.You need honesty, integrity, the strength to live by your ideals and the courage to acknowledge and overcome your dark, shadowy side (that evil mini-me we've all got going in inside.) I'm not talking about power over others here, I mean power and mastery of yourself. The path to yourself is called The Hero's Journey in some circles. You also need to be able to eat humble pie more often than I care to mention and you will need lots of good chocolate, all your friends and a good therapist or three to help you through. It will also help if you really want to change your life to how you have always secretly wanted it to be and to feel happy consistently for no damn good reason. But, The System is tried and true and makes me laugh out loud in amazement and wonder as yet another a'ha moment occurs. Another miraculous, synchronistic event happens seemingly out of the blue and I'm blown away yet again at the simplicity and awe of it. l'm left feeling both hum bled and powerful, in control and free!

But, I fully acknowledge and own that I cause it. I watch how my thoughts, words and deeds cause my relationships, career and life to be how they are. I have read and researched until my eyes bled, workshopped with all the other workshop junkies and hunted out how life seems to work from some of the best minds, hearts and souls in the world: Deepak Chopra, Anthony Robbins, Jesus, Jose Silva, Dan Millman, Wayne Dyer, Neale Donald Walsch, Esther Hicks with Abraham, Winnie The Pooh,(yes!) Gregg Braden, Caroline Myss amongst others. Not to mention having enlightening conversations with my mum, dear friends and work collegues that I've met along the way. I then put what I have learned into practice in my life and observe, experience, meditate and live it all as a process and a path to the discovery of my own inner realizations and wisdom. And with the help of The Team, whom I'll explain later, the blindfold falls away from my eyes and I see and hear the same teachings for myself, no books necesary! I look for and find the silver lining in every cloud, watch as my dreams manifest in front of me, feel the warm glow of gratitude flow through my heart and peace, happiness and success come just as I picture they will.

    The Thread Of My Life

We construct a narrative for ourselves and that's the thread that we follow from one day to the next.

People who disintegrate are the ones who lose that thread.

    Paul Auster.

The events in our lives happen in a sequence in time, but in their significance to ourselves, they find their own order, the continuous thread of revelation.

    Eudora Welty.

A strange feeling of desolation came over me as I sat in my lounge, newly-wed and alone, waiting for my husband to come home from working overtime. I looked around at our wedding gifts proudly displayed for all to see; vases, ornaments, (and the toaster, of course,) which yesterday I had felt great pride in. But this night I thought,'This all means nothing to me. I miss my partner!' And at age 19, I knew without a doubt, that there was 'more to life than meets the eye.' As I continued to stare around the room, taking in the television, the old sofa mum and dad gave us and all the other trappings of daily life, a huge void opened up inside me that I knew in an instant could never be filled by any material object. And so started my life long journey, seeking for.....and I've sat here for a while, fingers poised on the keyboard thinking, 'Lifelong journey seeking for what, exactly?' I've had heart melting glimpses of it, felt moved and inspired by it, shared some beautiful experiences of it with other people, but, what is it that I am, at 58 years of age, still seeking? It wasn't until quite recently that I realized that what we are all seeking, is actually what's looking! What we are all seeking, is our-Selves.

I was born in 1956, in Auckland, New Zealand to your average, hard working family. Mum ran the house and looked after us. She was a great cook, made all our clothes and gave us the best birthday parties. She looked after us like an angel when we were sick and was always singing around the house. She was the first one around at your house with food and sympathy if there was something wrong. She worked in the community and still always gives to charities and animal welfare. She had her challenges, like all of us, but I have watched her work through these, over the years, with faith in a Higher Power, and the strength that facing early hardship brings. I love, respect and admire her more than I can say, for how she lives her life.

My dad worked really hard, was very handy around the house and knew a bit about everything, but didn't really have a lot to do with us children. Apparently he loved me and he made up for it in his later years, but you can never go back and change how things were. He has sadly passed on and I know now, after years of not being quite sure, that I love him and I miss not having a dad. I also still miss not having had a dad's loving attention and guidance when I was growing up. I have one brother, whom, thanks to email, I'm in regular contact with. I love him dearly, but apparently when he was born, three years after me, I was very jealous of him. He's a computer whiz, has a good business head, a hilarious sense of humour and gives me some great advice. I also suspect, from our daily emails that he has a huge untapped writing talent.

There was an older male figure in my life, who, I suppose it could be said, took the place of my father in spending time with me and giving me the attention I craved. My mother's brother, John, who was always my favourite uncle, spent time with me, talked with me and made me feel wanted and special. I remember sitting at Nana's kitchen table one day, and Uncle John had picked a posy of my favorite flowers and put them on the table in front of me and I was absolutely delighted.

It was a challenging childhood and I thought that I had to keep everything in my life totally under my control and then nothing would suddenly shock, hurt or control me. In an effort to understand my life and the people around me better, as I got older, I read and studied about people and the mind and why we do the things we do. I read books on psychology, healing and natural foods. I read about all the separate religions and their differences, was there a God, did Jesus exist, are we alone in the Universe? The subject of 'Is there an alien presence out there,' has always fascinated me, especially after some amazing experiences I had which I'll tell you about later. Now it is alledged that alien bodies have been found and contacts made, all reported by apparently reputable sources.I read books on witchcraft and etiquette
