About this ebook

The Interview Bible is for anybody planning to attend an interview - on either side of the table.

THE INTERVIEWEE

You may have applied for numerous jobs and been turned down, or you may have sent off countless applications and not had a single reply.

Follow the guidelines contained in this book, and your chances of being offered the job of your choice will increase 1000%

You will stand head and shoulders above the other candidates.

THE INTERVIEWER

In my research for this book I came across  managers who told me they were often more nervous about conducting the interview than the candidate sitting across the table. There had been an assumption, that because their job title had the word manager in it, that was sufficient for them to be able to handle an interview. One wonders how many eminently suitable candidates lost job opportunities through interviewer incompetance or ignorance.

Think of me as your personal coach.  Somebody  who makes no asssumptions about your level of expertise.  A friend who will take you through the interview process from preparation to shaking hands at the end.

You'll see 50 of the most frequently asked questions together with winning answers.

A check list of Do's and Don'ts to read through on the day of the interview.

You've already taken a massive step forward in reading this introduction.  Good luck in your career. it may have just begun.

    About the Author

    Introduction

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve heard of individuals attending job interviews only to receive a letter containing the words: ‘We regret that on this occasion...’ etc.  You know the rest.

In one respect they’re the lucky ones.  At least they were sent a letter and knew where they stood, but an increasing number of recruiters only write to successful applicants.

I‘ve sat on both sides of the interview table many times and made all sorts of mistakes through sheer ignorance.

The fact that you are reading this suggests to me that you are serious about wanting to do well at your first interview, or that you’ve already attended  interviews and still waiting for a taste of success. Either way, you’ve taken a positive step in the right direction.

My motive for writing THE INTERVIEW BIBLE was to put together a short guide for the INTERVIEWEE.  However, the more I researched the subject the more I became aware of a distinct lack of formal training for INTERVIEWERS. Fewer than 10% of INTERVIEWERS had been trained in interviewing skills and techniques.

Imagine. On one side of the table sits an ill-prepared and nervous  INTERVIEWEE and on the other side an INTERVIEWER about to wing it.

An untrained INTERVIEWER may take on the wrong the candidate. I’ve seen it happen. I’ve done it myself.  Absolute waste of time and money, but nobody blames the INTERVIEWER.

The bottom line is this.  Whatever side of the table you sit on this book can help you do a better job.

A recent survey suggests that for every job vacancy there may be as many as 40 applicants and, in extreme cases, 200-300.

Fewer jobs. More applicants. Never before has the need to prepare for an interview been more important.
