    Jubilee

    The ancient Hebrew people believed in the celebration of jubilees, times when slates were wiped clean, when financial ledgers were balanced and those who were burdened with debt given a new start.

    All of us need a jubilee now and then. We need a time in our lives when we can say, I am sorry and a time when we can say, You are forgiven. There might be tense relationships in families, between friends or neighbors. There might be old hurts and pains that need to be cured. We may even need to be reconciled with the past, with memories, with ourselves, or with God. Is this the time for a jubilee? Certainly!

In our hearts, in the silent recesses of our minds and imaginations is the secret place where memories are preserved, grudges nourished, and anger grows.
