BEFORE YOU BEGIN…
CHECK YOUR MEMORY!
Current free memory status test for your own record:
This is about a FREE memory test you can do at your own pace.
This would be desirable and profitable for you to know your current status as to how fast and easily you can remember, that is, register, retain and recall information. Knowing this will help you to monitor your progress with the help of the systems described in the e-book Simple and Not So Simple Proven Ways to Sharpen Memory
as you move along to perfecting your skills. Progress for your own peace of mind and self-reassurance can only be judged if you honestly know where you stand at the moment. The e-book not only sharpens memory but builds comprehension and creativity too!
Please follow along the simple steps mentioned below to assess your current memory status:
1. Take a blank sheet of paper and write your name on top with the current date on the left top corner of the sheet and label the sheet as Sheet 1. Feel free to do so as you are the only one who would be seeing it. It's for your own knowledge about yourself and your own record.
2. Pick any 30 random words of your choice, the ones you feel highly comfortable with, such as cinema, cars, house, money, school, sports, music, GPA, tests, interviews, scholarship, grants and so on and start writing them on the blank sheet, one word per line, or one word per column if you decided to make two columns on the same sheet, while giving a number from 1-30 to each of them in the order you have written those words.
3. Please do not test your memory using numbers in some sequence, such as, 1-30 or any start point with an increment of 1 or on a pattern of 2, 3, 5 and so on. I hope you got the picture. You are honestly testing the current status of your memory for your own sake and good and do not want to make believe something which is not true at the moment.
4. Allow yourself 5-15 minutes or so to look at the sheet and remember the words of your choice you have written and in the order you have written them. Please make a note of time you invested on the same sheet. That is for your record too.
5. Put this numbered sheet facing down or away from you and take another blank sheet and label it as Sheet 2.
6. Start writing the words from memory on the new sheet (Sheet 2) and in the order you wrote them on the first sheet (Sheet 1).
7. Compare your answers on the Sheet 2 with those on the Sheet 1.
8. Each correct word, if in the same order as on the original Sheet 1, gets a score of 3.33. There are 30 words and 30 multiplied by 3.33 gives a value of 99.9%, which for the practical purposes, we take as 100%.
9. If you score 5 words in the same order, your score would be (5*3.33 = 16.65%) and for 10 correct hits, if those happen to be in the same order as the original order on the Sheet 1, the score would be (10*3.33 = 33.3%) and so on, depending on how many correct hits in the same order you are able to make.
10. If your score is less than 50%, you are strongly encouraged to buy a copy of Simple and Not So Simple Proven Ways to Sharpen Memory
, if not already bought and start honing your memorizing skills with the help of the above stated e-book. You will be doing yourself immense good by doing so. The e-book copies are available for purchase for personal use at most popular online stores, including author's website www.drsharmasmicroandnanopedia.com
11. You may allow yourself some extra-time, if you think this would help you and test your score again as described above and label this sheet as Sheet 3.
12. Save Sheets 1-3 or more if you tested yourself more for your own record.
13. Read the e-book Simple and Not So Simple Proven Ways to Sharpen Your Memory
and practice the systems described in them for a month's time or so.
14. Take out Sheet 1 you made in the step 1 above, remember the sheet with the new mastery you gained by reading and practicing the systems in the e-book.
15. Retest yourself as you did in the past (step 5) on a new blank sheet.
16. Note down the level of improvement you made by comparing your current score with what you had on Sheet 2 (made in step 6 above). Also note down the time it took you to remember it better and quicker than before. If this comes true in your case, congratulations in advance on your progress. Keep at it to further broaden the horizon of your success.
17. The goal here is to be able to remember 30 words/concepts in about 5 minutes or so and be able to write them down and/or speak in the order of 1-30 and in reverse order also, that is, starting from the word numbered 30 and going back to the word at 1 in the list you made the very first day when you started the test.
18. Such success may take some-time and the time taken will vary from individuals to individuals and the practice of systems described in the e-book, yet it's doable and would require your reading, re-reading and practicing the systems described in the e-book Simple and Not So Simple Proven Ways to Sharpen Memory
by Vijay K. Sharma, PhD, DPC, MCP.
You need such success to excel in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) too. May read more about the role of a sharp memory in STEM at the author's website www.drsharmasmicroandnanopedia.com
You may ask your friends to do this 30 random words self-test to test their memory strength. They may select the words they like and may share their score with you or hide it (their score) from you. In either event, you would know that they have not fared well and would be helped by buying a copy, reading and practicing it for their own benefits!
Wishing you and your friends a great success!-The author
INTRODUCTION
Memory in man enables him to master details, sets the thinking process in motion, helps solve riddles by comparing and contrasting the present situation with the old information locked in the store house of memory and by that enabling him to decide for a better alternative to act. If memory falters, so does the progress.
No wonder that many a tributes and accolades have been showered over memorizing. Even the Holy Gita has been no exception to it, where Lord Krishna has linked meditation, concentration and memory, with the final stress on memory suggesting that its lack can degenerate a man into a beast.
Why does not this process of remembering ensure the same success in the realm of memory to everybody? The main difference lies in the attitude involved while registering the impression, retaining it and recalling it when required. If the attitude is correct and positive one, more success is assured. Let us see what the different kinds of memory are, what goes on while memorizing a thing and how we could evolve a better attitude or approach
