About this ebook

Dana had a plan. Get good grades in school. Get a job. Meet a nice boy. Get married. Live happily ever after. It was the same fairy tail plan millions of other young women get stuck in their heads every year. It works out for some of them, but for others the fairy tail dream can turn into a nightmare almost overnight.

Most people never realize how close to the edge they’ve built their life. After her husband’s freak accident, with bills piling up, Dana makes it her mission in life to make ends meet without him ever finding out where the money really came from. When he finds out, there’s hell to pay – and no end to customers who are willing to pay for the opportunity to spend an hour with Dana.

A mere 24 hours changed everything Dana thought she knew about who she was, what she wanted, and how life was supposed to turn out. It also showed her a side of herself that she didn’t even know was there.

This book contains highly explicit descriptions of sex, oral sex, prostitution, and contextual violence. If you are offended by sexual material or younger than 18 years of age please do not purchase this book.

    Chapter 1: Things Fall Apart

I loved everything about being with Donny. We met just after high school. I was waiting tables and he was working his first full time job in construction. Before we started dating he'd come in three nights a week, sit at the counter, order a cheeseburger, and flirt with me. It took almost two full months but eventually he worked up the nerve to ask me out.

I said yes right away. Even with drywall dust in his hair and covered in grime from working all day, Donny was a catch. His blonde hair was just long enough to fall in his eyes when he laughed. He had muscles everywhere. He had a job and his own truck. What 18-year-old girl from small town America wouldn't be impressed with all that?

We dated for almost four years. I took classes at the community college and kept my job waiting tables. The day Donny got his union card he asked me to marry him. I couldn't say yes fast enough. We were 22, in love, and life was ours for the taking. The justice of the peace married us a month later. But shit changes really fast. They never tell you that part in the fairytales.

I was proud of my man when he got called to help build the new high school. People from the city never understand how big a deal high schools are in a small town. I was proud of my husband and his job right up until his foreman walked into the restaurant right after lunch on a beautiful Thursday afternoon and told me Donny got hurt. He told me the whole story on the way to the hospital, but I don't remember any of it. I was too numb with worry.

Later I learned that he was 30 feet up, working on the scaffolding in the new gym. He reached for the next piece of frame and lost his balance. He was supposed to be tied off. Twenty-two year olds never think anything bad will happen to them. Those things happen to other people.

I bawled when they took me to see him. His back was broken in three places. His shoulder was dislocated. More ribs were cracked than weren't. The worst part was his leg. It was all held together with pins and steel. I'm glad he was too out of it to see me that night. I pulled myself together. I knew I had to be strong for him. It was going to take months for him to walk again. Not even the doctors wanted to guess what the new normal was going to be like. All they kept saying to us was time will tell. That's not very comforting when your whole life is lying bruised and broken in a hospital bed.

Donny stayed in the hospital for almost two months before they let me take him home. That felt like the day we were both waiting for, but it slowly became a nightmare. I know he got hurt on the job, trying to make life better for both of us, but there I was a 22-year-old bride who had to feed her husband of less than a month bite by bite. I had to wipe his ass and even help him take a piss. I was naive enough to think we'd have a long life together enjoying the better before getting to the worse part of our vows.

He was slowly getting better, though. It took six months of rehab and constant work, but he was even starting to walk on his own again. His long strides were replaced by slow shuffling form handhold to handhold, but I told myself it was something. At least he was making progress.

While Donny recovered the bills kept coming. His hospital bill alone was over $150,000. Doctor's fees were half as much. Co-pays, premiums, groceries,
