About this ebook

I hadn’t seen Emma in years, but I never expected how much she would grow up. I’d known a gangly teenager. The women I met sitting across the bar had the kind of body men dream about. When our paths crossed unexpectedly that night, I thought it would be a quick bang in the back of her car and then we’d go our separate ways. After we met again a few months later, it was only natural that we’d pick up where we left off. We both wanted it. We both wanted something, anyway.

Emma was everything a guy could want in a friend with benefits – sexy, adventurous, bi-sexual, and not the least bit interested in “catching” a man. I was on top of the world right up until I wasn’t. Someone always gets damaged when it’s just friends with benefits. I didn’t expect it would be me, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. She didn’t mean to do it, but Emma ruined me. After her, no average woman will ever measure up.

Warning: This book contains highly explicit descriptions of sex between consenting adults.

    Chapter 1: Chance Encounter

Sitting in a bar in my hometown, it was easy enough to pick out the ones who had managed to escape and the ones who had given up hope of ever finding their way out of town. Me? I left town at the first opportunity and aside from the inevitable returns for holidays, weddings, and funerals, rarely found a reason to go back. It was a nice place if you were a kid or were looking for someplace quiet to live out your golden years. If you had any ambition of making more than $9 an hour, though, the road out of town was really your only option.

Whenever I passed through, I could almost always meet up with people who at one time were my closest friends. It helped that there was really only one bar in town. Usually the ones I was looking for were sitting on the same barstool where I'd last seen them. With the predictable rhythm of what's probably one of the last real mill towns in America, by 5:30 Friday night, anyone who was coming in for a drink was there already.

Looking through the smoke blue haze that hung across the bar, my alcohol-infused brain worked overtime to put a name with a face. I should have known the girl sitting at the end of the bar. Her long chestnut hair, elegant neck, and shirt unbuttoned one button too far were either giving me a profound case of deja vu or she was someone I should recognize. My synapses just couldn't make the connection.

Fueled by just enough booze to feel courageous, I pushed back from the bar, drink in hand, and weaved through the happy hour crowd. The brunette had been sitting my herself for half an hour, so it seemed safe that some redneck boyfriend wasn't about to come staggering out of the bathroom threatening to kick my ass into next week.

Taking a deep breath and screwing up my nerve to say hello, she turned on me before hello passed my lips.

Well it took you long enough. Smirking, she leaned back against the bar and waited a beat before throwing her head back in a laugh. You don't remember me, do you?

It was a statement rather than a question.

You're… ahhh… you're… I was stumbling for a name, any name, but the words just hung there in the air waiting painfully to be finished.

Emma, jackass. My name is Emma.

You were a few years behind me in school, right? Stammering, stuttering, and fumbling over my
