    Chapter 1: Surveys

    What is a survey? In life, surveys are important and even more so when a Missionary is planning to enter a new field. Survey involves the gathering of intelligence about the field concerned. There could be several survey methods in use by different people at different times but two common types are Satellite or Positional surveys:

    Satellite or Remote Surveys: As the name implies it is an indirect form of survey conducted through a third party. It is a cheaper way of gathering information but how reliable the survey will prove cannot be determined until very much later.

    Positional or Personal surveys: This type of survey is conducted personally and it usually involves visiting the location under investigation. This is a costly
