Chapter1: The bubble burst
Geddy is from Toram, an ancient city of locally intelligent people of about 300,000. There are twelve schools in Toram and there is a University. Most people in Toram are peasants. Almost every family has a farm. They are good farmers and they are famous for Coffee production. Many farmers are also involved in food production.
When schools became unattractive to the boys because of their farming activities, most girls had the opportunity to go to school. The boys would rather become wealthy farmers than become educated poor men. Geddy’s parents are poor farmers who managed to send her to school. Right from her first day in school, she has exhibited seriousness and brilliance. Her exceptional abilities encouraged her parents to continue spending on her education.

No one was surprised at her performance and her father threw a party to celebrate her success. She gained admission to study Psychology but could not go to College because of financial difficulties, though she was very intelligent.
Geddy has eight siblings: five boys and three girls. Her brothers grew up on their father’s farm and knew no other job than farming. They did well with farming that considering other vocations never came up in their minds. They were into poultry, piggery and fruit farming.

They could not see any benefit of education. Most educated people do not have as much money as farmers so why should they go to school, they reasoned.
Their mother cooks very well. They all relish her cooking. Their father loves steak and vegetable for dinner. It has almost become a tradition and the children have come to like steak. They are not so rich but they can afford to feed well. Geddy’s mother had
