    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    DEDICATION

To anyone who has ever struggled in their faith

    A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

"Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith, has no

obligation to finish what he has not authored."

The man who spoke these words hit the nail on the head! I strongly believe the reason why many of us struggle today is because we have a wrong view of faith! Too often, we move forward based on our own hopes and desires, and then proclaim that we are moving forward in faith. In other words, we decide what we are going to do and then pray and expect God to bless our decision. Doing this is akin to making ourselves the boss and making God our employee – we make up our mind and expect Him to deliver on our wishes!

This is a complete role-reversal and is faux-faith. Faux-faith causes us to work, work, and work some more, without seeing any fruit. This is because it is based on our hopes and desires and not based on God’s hope and desires for us. To anyone who has ever struggled in their faith, faux-faith ultimately leads us to doubt God’s love for us and causes us to choose our own way. Additionally, it causes us to strive in hopeless aim to buy the love of God.

If we are praying night and day and slaving away without ever seeing a hint of sunlight or a word from God, it is likely that we have strayed into the realm of faux-faith.

Friends, just because we desire something does not mean that it is God’s desire for us. He is the boss and we are the employees. He communicates His wishes to us and we move to fulfill His wishes by faith -- trusting that He will provide the tools and resources we need to get the job done. Since He is the boss, we cannot say that we have faith if we have not heard from Him. And how can we hear from Him unless we are in fellowship with Him?

As you take your journey of faith, please make sure everything you do is authored by God. You cannot hope your way to victory; you can only trust and believe your way to it. This means that you have to move when God calls you.

One thing He is calling you to do today is strengthen your relationship with Him. Accept this call today and you will find that things will begin to fall perfectly in place. He will reward you richly for your faith in Him!

    INTRODUCTION:

WHY SHOULD I LIVE A LIFE OF FAITH?

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.

    1 John 5:4

I love what 1 John 5:4 says about faith: Faith is the victory that overcomes the world. It does not say that faith produces victory – rather, it says that faith is victory. Moreover, it says the victory of faith is what overcomes the world. Thus it follows that it is impossible to be victorious and to be an overcomer in life without faith!

1 John 5:4 reveals why God wants us to have faith in Him: He wants us to overcome the world and He wants us to have victory in life. The reason why God wants this for us is two-fold. First, He loves us. He wants us to live a life that is filled with joy, peace, love, honor, riches, glory, and any other nice thing that we can imagine. He wants us to live a life of nothing missing and nothing broken. Second, He loves the world. The world tends to stop and take notice when it sees a person having victory in life and when that person overcomes the odds. Our life of faith makes us attractive to the world as we live victoriously. By attracting the world to us, our life of faith gives us the opportunity to minister to others and introduce them to Jesus. Jesus in turn then authors their faith and gives them the opportunity to experience the love of the Father and the victory-producing power of faith.

Investing our time and energy in faith is a no brainer if we love ourselves and love other people!

The Bible tells us that faith pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). Thus we know that God is pleased when we flourish. If there is any doubt about this, it is settled by the words of Jesus, "By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples" (John 15:8). It is interesting that God says that the way we show ourselves to be His disciples is through the fruit of our life. Since this fruit only comes by walking in faith, we cannot say that we are disciples or followers of Christ if we are not operating by faith. Furthermore, this challenges us to think about how much we love God. We cannot say we love God without wanting to please Him.

If we truly love God, we will want to live a victorious life – a life of faith.

Imagine if all two billion people who consider themselves Christians lived victoriously in all areas of their lives. Wouldn’t the world be different? Wouldn’t the world be a better place? If the life of faith of twelve disciples could make two billion believers in a little over 2,000 years, it should take almost no time for two billion believers to impact six billion people if all lived by faith. But it seems like the number of believers is stuck at a fourth of the world’s population. What is the problem? The problem is a lack of faith!

Why should we care about faith? Faith is the only thing that can bring about the change we want to see in our lives and in the world! It is the only thing that can unleash the grace (favor and power) of God in our lives (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is the only thing that God responds to when we pray (Mark 11:24). It is the only thing that can move mountains!

    PREFACE

I HAVE FAITH IN GOD, SO WHY CAN’T

    I MOVE MOUNTAINS?

So Jesus answered and said to them, Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

    Mark 11:22-23

    Faith in God

Has there been a time in your life when everything seemed to be crashing down on you? A day where everything that could go wrong seemed to go wrong? What did you do? If you are like a lot of people, you kept it to yourself until desperation finally forced you to reach out to your most trusted
