About this ebook

Spirit Empowerment and Praying Within asks the question, “What does it mean to have the Divine or God Within you?” This book will dig into that question about what it means and what it means to be empowered by your Divine part of yourself – your Spirit. Accessing your Spirit to the Divine part of one’s self can take many avenues and a new avenue has been created! Praying Within to your own Divine Self – your Spirit! This new way of praying can also change your thoughts of what it means to be empowered through your Spirit.

Rev. Eric’s take on the spiritual belief of Divine or God Within takes a new quantum leap into our reality in spirituality. This book will also go through why we resist the idea of being empowered in Spirit and that we have the power to change our life through what he calls “Spirit Empowerment.” Are you ready to go deeper into the Divine Within you? Are you ready to take the next step?

Spirit Empowerment also tackles a few of the known details of what most people think of the Law of Attraction. Is it more directed by our Spirit or does it just go out into the Universe to eventually come back to you? You decide after reading all about the characteristics of Spirit Empowerment!

The prayers in this book are quite unique and are meant to be inspiration for one’s own praying within. There are no other books about prayer that has this kind of praying – Praying Within!

    About The Author

    Acknowledgements:

I’d like to start with fully acknowledging a few people that have helped inspire and maintain my confidence that what I am doing is exactly what is needed, not just for myself but for many others. I would like to acknowledge my minister Rev. Ahriana Platten for inspiring a certain few (I was one of them) into questioning what it means to be Divine. I also thank all the other Prayer Chaplains that have helped support me in my goal in changing the way I pray. I would also like to thank my friends Brenna Collier and Sally Shaputis for the support and confidence within me to do this book. I would like to thank all the many friends I have at Unity Spiritual Center that have helped even a little with support. I would like to thank my mom, whose energy wouldn’t have helped in learning about energy and what one can do when one isn’t consciously aware of it!

Lastly, I would like to thank my Spirit – Ǽclǽus, who is guiding me in what it means to be Spirit Empowered and to begin the process in questioning and working on what it means to be Divine!

    Introduction:

This book was created to help those realize their full Spirit potential within them. It began with how I was newly praying and that was the first intent of this book. As time went on, the focus was not necessarily about the praying, but about Spirit Empowerment. It became more of the main focus in this book because prayer within itself is actually an easy concept, and I found that many were having a hard time believing in the idea that they have any kind of Divine Power within them. Doing the prayer and the why I choose the words that I use, is just a small part of this book. There is a lot about prayer here though, such as affirmations and the process I used for the wording of my prayer, but I do believe that prayer is part of the process in believing and finding your Spirit and knowing more of your Spirit’s Empowerment. You will find it is a cooperative effort with you and your Spirit. As time went on, it wasn’t the prayer that needed attention, but the fact that many do not know what they are capable of as a Divine Being. The prayer is out there, but the feeling and the knowing you have the potential of the Divine seems to almost be foreign to many – even to those that believe they have the Divine Within them. The prayer uses the Divine Within to fulfill the intention, rather than an outside God, Spirit, or gods/goddesses to fulfill the want or needs in the prayer. This became a very new approach to praying and the belief that we have the Power Within us to make things happen has not been done as far as I know. As I have been writing this book, I realized that Spirit Empowerment is important to get to know, possibly even first since it takes that kind of knowing of your Spirit to feel that the prayer will actually do well for them. This is important in order to be open to this new kind of prayer and knowing and feeling that you are empowered and your Spirit is empowered is essential. I feel that when I first started this new kind of praying, I already had the belief that I have the Divine Within me and a part of me wanted to get to connect to that part of me. I wholeheartedly put myself into working on the new prayer and thought many that felt the same way with the Divine Within would take the plunge like I did. A few did at first, but many were very resistant to it, even when they believed they had the Divine Within them. I realized later that believing in this kind of prayer would take a certain belief and knowing of something I termed Spirit Empowerment.

    Why I changed my prayers

First off, why did I start to pray to the Divine Within me? At my Unity Spiritual Center, we have started going into a new process of our services because there has been a confusion of what it means to going to the Divine Within when we still talk and pray as if God is out there. Our minister has been inspired to try to change the look and feel of things. It started with a couple of classes on a book called Get Over It by Rev. Paul Hasselbeck, who happens to be the Dean at Unity Village (central hub of the religion of Unity – which is more like a Spiritual side of Christianity founded by Charles and Myrtle Fillmore).

The book was about how the phrases that we used such as Divine Order or my least favorite phrase (but used lots of times) Let Go and Let God, gives the feeling and appearance of someone outside of ourselves taking control of us. In the class, we went through what it is like to have the Divine Within us. A good part of it was about Creativity and Free Will. It showed us that we may believe that we have the Divine Within us, but we seemed to not really know it or possibly even feel it – especially when we go about our normal day of dramas and hard work.

This was also a time when I got into a long class on prosperity. It was a class that had some interesting affirmations to use for ourselves. In a way, it was to reprogram ourselves and our beliefs to believe that we can and will be prosperous and successful in whatever we wanted to affirm. It was using concepts of the Law of Attraction by using stewardship as a way to help with prosperity. An interesting part of that class was that I found my first part of how I wanted to pray in the Divine Within me. The other interesting part of this class was that even though we were trying to work with the Divine Within us with affirmations, everything else seemed very God out there kind of thing. There was confusion for some of us about the use of both going within and praying to something outside, including me.

Since I am a Prayer Chaplain at Unity, prayer became the first process for me to change. This means that I’d pray to others and to myself. It is a daily affair. If not just for me, it is also to pray for others. So, this change was first and foremost, a focus on changing my way of praying. But, how was this supposed to look? How was it supposed to sound and feel? I really didn’t know, so I spent a couple of months trying to work on the basics of the process and praying to myself first. When the time came, I unveiled it to my fellow Prayer Chaplains and most of them took it quite well. I got into the idea of praying like this because one of the Prayer Chaplains told me that I pray to the God out there. My beginning prayers when I first started as a Prayer Chaplain was Dear Source, Please bring Divine Light and Divine Love and yes, it was about a Source outside of me.

This new kind of prayer uses affirmations as a part of the prayer. In New Thought, the use of affirmations to help guide and program yourself to believe and attract what you believe into manifestation. These affirmations are such as I am One with God, I am Love, etc. They bring in the idea of the I Am principle that allows you to see yourself being of the Godhead or God Within. The I Am principles are used also primarily in Ascended Master teachings, predominately St. Germaine. These I Am principles are there to help you feel the oneness and of being part of the Divine or God. What they don’t have is how do you pray or communicate to your Divine self? Sure, you can talk to yourself (as many actually do, we just don’t say that we do) but we are not actually praying with the power of our Spirit and Divine Self being part of the prayer.

As one learns more of this new kind of prayer, one realizes that there is no real bad prayer and that prayer is both communication and intention. The feeling of Praying to the God Within, is that the Source of your prayer comes from within you and not from outside of you. If you feel that it is coming from outside, the prayer you are using does not use the Divine Within you, it uses the Divine coming to you from outside of you.

As I’ve come to bring this new way of praying to light, I realized that one of the things that was missing was, so what can our Spirit (our Divine part of ourselves) do for us if we pray to this Divine Within us? We are praying to our Spirit and Higher Self to work with us and help with whatever we’ve been trying to intend in prayer. So, then came the idea of Spirit Empowerment. Spirit Empowerment first started out as a way of believing that praying to the Divine Within was possible and that it was something we could do. It came out because I realized that many didn’t really feel like there was power in them, that only their God has the power and not them.
