About this ebook

Two mischievous fairies leave their dwelling and venture out into the forest beyond the fringe, a place that is off-limits and home to dangerous beasts that prowl in the darkness. There, they find two humans camping out in the woods, and vigilance results in the male turning into one of their own kind. However, when the real monster appears, it will be up to the new fairy to save those captured.

Excerpt:

Fig turned to her friend, while the giants' eyes all remained on them. "Not so dumb for an oaf, is it? It knows of pixie dust! That means ... it must know of our colony. Maybe it's here to capture us. We have to stop it before it's too late!"

Polina agreed, but it would have to be a team effort. The giant was menacing in size, and even for its dull mind it could still easily squash the both of them if they weren't careful. She wasn't sure about the tall woman by its side, but that was a matter to question when the beast was properly subdued.

In parallel paths, the two fairies lunged for the giant, aiming straight for its face. At the last second, they veered away from it in opposite paths. The giant let out a gasp of fright and stumbled backwards. Its foot caught against a jagged rock in the soil, and it came crashing down on the temple, flattening the whole thing. The entire forest thundered with its noisy demise, and the two fairies raced to the fallen foe and stood on its chest. Two giant eyes and black pupils crossed as they looked up at them. A lower lip trembled.

"Mighty warrior and tall beast, you dare not enter the land of the fairies and expect to get away so easily!" Polina boasted. "We are all talented warriors and are capable of taking down enemies several times our size, just as you have learned. Surely the tales of our capture led you to make foolish decisions in wandering out here tonight. Let the woman go and we will show you mercy, somewhat."

The beast craned its head towards the standing woman. "What are they talking about? Do they mean you?"

"Right here," Polina snapped. "You can speak to me about this arrangement. If you do not agree to the terms, then the forest will accept your punishment."

"Oh, just do what they say, Colin! Just do what they say!" the woman shrieked.

Fig rubbed her chin in thought. "Must be some kind of mind-altering magic. The woman clearly does not recognize us and doesn't remember who she is. Powerful tricks for a dumb giant, but the magic blesses us more than it does you."

The giant made an attack, but a burst of pixie dust was all it took for the oversized hand to stop in the middle of a swing and crash back down to the earth. A cloud of dust arose from the collision, and Polina crossed her arms in approval. "Nice try, beast, but our magic is stronger than your brawn. It would be wise if you never do that again."

The creature gulped audibly.
