He takes off his cuff links before anything else. Then, he unbuttons his shirt, revealing a stretch of bare, tan skin from his neck to the base of his abs. He has that smile that makes his eyes crinkle, and it never leaves his face as he shrugs off his shirt. I run my hands over his biceps, remembering how they felt around me, how firm and unyielding...

Stop, I told myself.

Water whistled past my ears from the lime-caked showerhead. I shook my fantasy out of my mind and continued lathering my legs with shaving cream. It was silly; that whole thing with Henry Meyers had happened nearly a week ago.

My heart deflated a little. Actually, it was exactly a week ago.

I counted back the days. I had met him on a Monday morning, cleaning up after Rebecca West’s Academy Awards viewing party. Two sessions of laundry room sex later, he’d given me the business card of one his employees, the ticket to my paid internship at AlphaTech. I hadn’t seen Rebecca since.

Nor Henry Meyers.

I set my mouth in a straight line as I scraped the razor over my leg. Maybe it was better that way. Henry was a busy man, and he’d already given me an opportunity to work at his company. Most interns had to endure several group interviews before even being considered. All I’d done was sleep with the C.E.O.

And he was keeping quiet about it. What more did I want from him?

I straightened up after finishing my legs. I looked down and fingered the soft curls of my mound thoughtfully. I’d seen Henry a few times around the office, but he’d never seen me. Who knew? Today could have been the day when he finally did. Still, I had no reason that he would do anything other than give me a polite nod or utter a single word of greeting.
