I walked through my surreal surroundings, nervous and exhilarated at the same time. The flesh-toned walls seemed to be breathing deeply, bending and warping before my very eyes. They looked like they were made of latex, the way they stretched but never broke. They had a translucency to them also, and I could see a soft light glowing from behind. The floor beneath my bare feet felt like soft leather, but when I looked upon it, it was so black it was as if I were floating on some endless void. I began to run, my silk nightie flowing behind me like a ghost.

What existed at the end of this hallway? I wondered. It seemed as endless as the floor below me. There were no twists or turns. Just darkness ahead and the billowing walls on either side of me.

I stopped running to catch my breath. I still saw no end in sight, so I turned on my heels to assess how far I’d come. Down the hall, I saw a bare-chested man in black leather pants and black riding boots standing there, seemingly staring at me. I couldn’t be certain because he wore a full-faced, beige masquerade mask with a long nose and black feathers around the outer edge. He slowly cocked his head to one side, and the lights went out in the hallway.

I stood there, frightened, in the pitch black hallway. My heart raced. I felt a light touch run up my bare arm, sending shivers up my spine and a tingling in the pit of my stomach. It stopped almost as quickly as it came. I waited in the darkness. A sudden gasp passed through my lips, as the fingertips danced along the inner curve of my breast.

Who’s there? I whispered in the darkness.

No reply came, but the dancing fingertips left my skin. I missed the human contact, even if it was a stranger’s touch.

And that’s when something brushed my inner thigh. I could tell it wasn’t skin. It felt more like...

    A feather!

That man, that strange man from down the hall, must’ve been toying with me. I crossed my arms over my chest and took a few steps backward. My back hit something sturdy and solid and...human. In the darkness, I turned to face the man, even though I couldn’t see him. I reached my hands up, feeling around blindly for him. My fingers met with his large pecs, and the palms of my hands swept over his hard nipples. He had the body of Adonis, and I enjoyed touching such perfection.

The man grabbed both of wrists in his strong masculine hands and held them sandwiched tightly between my silk nightie and his bare chest. The lights flickered on, and I tilted my head up intending to finally see the man’s eyes at least—the only thing visible behind the mask. As my eyes made it past the long nose of his mask but before I could see his eyes, I suddenly heard music blaring.

My eyes shot open, staring at the digital clock radio on my nightstand. It was eight o’clock, and Patti Smith was singing Because The Night. I turned off the radio and rolled over in my full-sized bed, which I alone occupied. I felt perspiration on my brow and on the back of my neck. That was some dream, I thought. Really bizarre.

I pulled back the covers and climbed out of my bed. I grabbed my black-rimmed glasses off the nightstand and put them on. Now I could see
