Introduction
For all those acquainted with my normal style of writing and genre, I would like to apologise. Anyone looking for the normal gunfights, explosions, brawls, spaceships crashing into planets and mutants with more teeth than you can usefully rattle an AK47 at, I'm sorry to say you will be disappointed. There is none of the afore mentioned within these pages. However, this is a book that covers a far stranger and infinitely more terrifying prospect. Love.
For everyone still with me, I will now offer some mitigation and attempt an explanation for this sudden change of genre. It’s a little something extra, with a solemn promise to return to business as usual fairly soon.
For now, I'll give you a brief chance to get an insight into what was crossing my mind at the time of writing. Feel free to skip ahead to the first story, Trouble with a glass heart, I will not be offended. I will probably never even know. I mean, it’s not as if there is a quiz at the end.
Everyone that is still with me, thank you. I will now, much to my horror, attempt to explain. This book and all that it contains was inspired by, sorry for the cliché, a girl possessing a smile that could induce cardiac arrest in anyone with a Y chromosome. Something I was convinced happened the first time I saw her, but that is a story for another time. Needless to say, she made an impression, starting off a chain of thoughts in my head leading to Trouble with a glass heart.
And so, here we are.
Trouble with a glass heart is about something I had previously given little thought to. Much like Connor Meadows, a man you will meet in the following pages, I was never very bothered about it and am now wondering on the wisdom of this path. But, that is something that cannot be changed now. Although it is now something I have given some thought to, possibly for the worse, but this is my impression of love and romance.
Maybe it’s a twisted and geeky approach to something most people take for granted. However, I hope you will have some laughs, maybe even be moved by the following stories. Or at least be entertained for a little while.
I think it also best, for the non-geeky among us, to explain the title of one story. OH is the functional group for alcohol, but The alcohol factor, really didn't have quite the same ring to it. So, I substituted in the rather odd title instead.
Now I have finished rambling, I think it is time for us to press forward. To discover the answer to a strange and peculiar question. What is the trouble with a glass heart?
Trouble with A glass heart
Have you ever wondered what makes us feel love?
Not the she's hot, I wonder what she looks like naked, animal lust most people mistake for love. I mean the real, heart stuttering and one hundred points of your IQ kind of love. The root of all stupid actions carried out by humans across many generations.
This was, I am ashamed to admit, a question I had given little thought towards.
Me find love? I was more likely to be struck by lightning. Well, this is what I thought, until I meet one special girl. An angel I could never deserve or believe wanted me in return.
She was the girl of my dreams. An angel in every sense of the word, with flowing blonde hair, soft blue eyes and, in a very literal sense, I didn't meet her until I died. This may sound strange. A point to which I am forced to agree. However, no one sees an angel until they are knocking on heaven’s door and waiting for someone to pass judgement on them, to see if they are worthy of paradise. I write this not for you to pass judgement upon me, but simply to find an answer to my current problem. For now, I'll start with the beginning, the true start of a strange tale.
