Loving On A Budget - Hope V.W. Charles

PREFACE
In today’s society, we tend to want to rush things. We tape television shows and movies on our DVRs, just so that we can fast forward through the commercials. We elect for Direct Depositing our Pay Checks, so that we can get them a few hours earlier in our Checking accounts, on Thursday rather than Friday. We have even gone as far as to take Black Friday, the most famous shopping day known to man (the day after Thanksgiving) and have turned the shopping day into a shopping week. You can now hit the stores on Thanksgiving Day. Who needs to spend time with Grandma? I need that new Chanel bag.
While we have seemed to find a way to rush through every facet of our day to day lives, there is one thing that still should not be rushed; relationships. Now I know what you’re thinking, Are you kidding me? I can name three people off the top of my head who do nothing but rush every relationship they are in.
I know you can. I can name at least five. I am not talking to the notorious meet-someone-on Sunday, ready to say I do
on Tuesday types of individuals. (Although, I do believe they can also get something out of this book, but knowing them, they will probably just skip over to the good stuff
and totally miss the point anyway.)
This book is a short collection of ideas, tips and tools that I wanted to share. I know how it feels to really, truly love someone and want to shower them with gifts, yet your wallet just does not seem to be on the same page, or in the same book, or even in the same library. I wanted to give something to all of those people who do not want to rush love, but who want to take it a day at a time and enjoy the process of loving someone; from courting them, to dating them, to hopefully, eventually marrying them.
Dating can be very expensive, but it does not have to be. Rather than spending that $6 on a Hallmark card, you can just as easily hand write a letter to your lady love and express yourself. She will love it even more, because it came from you…your words, from your heart.
If you are a romantic, much like myself and want to find fun, inexpensive ways to show that special someone you care, you have found what you’ve been looking for.
If you are a speed dater and just want a couple of great dating ideas, feel free to buy this book as well. Hopefully, something you read will sway you over to the other side.
Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, sit back and enjoy, Loving on a Budget!
CHAPTER ONE
court·ship as defined in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary
: the activities that occur when people are developing a romantic relationship that could lead to marriage or the period of time when such activities occur
COURTING
Something can be said for the olden days
. Back in the day men would woo their love interest. There was a sense of innocence to the entire act of dating that has gone missing in today’s society. Before you were even privileged enough to get to date someone, you would initially court the other person. The easiest way to explain the difference between courting
and dating
is when you are courting
, you are getting to know that person (their likes, dislikes, etc). When you’re dating
it’s presumed you
