DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to my wife and daughter who have been instrumental in getting me to put all of my expensive, hard-won secrets on paper. This book is also dedicated to the two young fur-kids
who are my constant companions in my office. They may only be Basset Hounds but every day they teach me everything there is to know about being happy and loving each other.
But more than that, this book is dedicated to you, my reader. If you are anything like me, things have not been going as well as they could for the last eight or ten years. Taxes are up, wages are down, medical insurance is expensive and nothing is as good as it once was. At times like these, it is getting harder and harder to make ends meet. So, I wrote this book for you. You tired, struggling soul, you. I urge you to just follow the ideas contained herein. Give it a chance. Use your head and be organized. Start small, but start. It may just be the ticket out of your problems and into a better life. Please let me know of your successes. I wish you the very best of luck.

INTRODUCTION
Let’s start this off with a question. And it's a question that you should really consider before you answer. The question is this: How secure do you feel right now? Come on, be honest. Let me tell you a story.
A few days ago, I drove over to one of my favorite restaurants to have a cup of coffee with a friend. He got there about the same time I did. We were the only cars in the parking lot and there was a sign in the window. It said Thanks for 24 great years.
It turns out that the owners had lost the restaurant. After 24 years.
There wasn’t anyone around to ask but you can probably guess what happened because it has likely happened in your area, too. Business fell off because people were worried about the future. Small businesses all over were going under and no one had any money to spend on restaurant food. Does that sound familiar? When was the last time you ate out? Or went to a movie? Or had a date night
with your sweetheart? Or were able to afford a college education for your kids? If you are like most people, the answer will probably be something like, It has been a very long time.
Today, it seems like everybody I talk to is feeling insecure. They’re insecure about their families; they are insecure about their jobs, their ability to keep their homes, pretty much everything. I won't go into how we got here or whose fault it may or may not be, because everyone has a different opinion on that one. And, frankly, there is probably some right and some wrong in most of those opinions. But rather than drive ourselves crazy with trying to choose who or what is responsible for the problems we find ourselves in today, let’s try to figure out a way to get out of these hardships and get back to living our lives. I think we can all agree that each of us needs to take some kind of personal responsibility for our situation and right now, take some action to make things better for ourselves and our families.
So let me tell you a few things about this. This is no nine-to-five job. You are the boss and you go where you want, when you want. If you feel like taking Tuesday off because it is your anniversary, be my guest. In fact, this may be one of the best husband-wife opportunities available. Not married? Your spouse is in another line of work? That’s perfectly OK. You can work solo or with a different partner as you choose. Personally, I like having a partner, but not all the time. So I do my own thing when I feel like it and have a partner when I feel like I need two extra eyes on what is going on.
So what is this opportunity that has everyone so excited from Maine to California? Simple. I like to call us pickers.
Why pickers? Actually, the work picker
has a lot of different meanings. You can be a fruit picker or a lock picker or a lot of other pickers. What we do, according to Webster’s Dictionary, is to select, to cull, and to gather. We go through all the stuff that people want to sell, don’t want anymore, or have just forgotten about, and we harvest
the valuable items, the gold
that is sitting there for us. Have you ever heard the expression, One man’s trash is another man’s treasure
? Well, that is how we earn a living. We buy and sell. We trade with others. We may buy and sell with the same person at the same time. But no matter how we do it, on every transaction, the goal is to turn a profit. And until you have tried it, you have no idea how satisfying it is.
So, you say, what do we buy? What do we sell? And what do we trade? The answer is simple, yet very complex, and here it is: Anything and Everything. Let me say that again. We buy, sell and trade anything and everything. Let me modify that just a little for you: Anything and Everything, So Long as It Turns a Profit. And that can easily
