    Tommy was someone who lived for the moment. What was the point of considering the potential consequences of his actions when he had lived recklessly for so long without anything going wrong? He regularly got drunk and took drugs. He often engaged in football hooliganism and got into fights. He’d had a few run-ins with the law, but he had never been to court and didn’t have a criminal record. Unfortunately for Tommy, complacency was to be his downfall. He came to believe he was untouchable; that he could do whatever he wanted, and that he would always get off scot-free. He would soon learn otherwise though, as his luck ran out.

    It was on a night out with mates that he became involved in an altercation with a fellow drunken reveller. Tommy was so drunk he didn’t really know what he was doing, but obviously the other chap had said something that irked him, and his immediate response was to throw a punch. The man was knocked unconscious. When he eventually came around he discovered his nose was broken, as were some of his teeth. Plus, not only was his face bruised; so was his ego.
