Smiling at the table of customers, I cleared away their plates and headed back to the kitchen.
It was April 2018 and I loved my job as a waitress.
But lately, working with my boyfriend Tom Fosbrook, then 29, had become a headache.
He was a starter chef, and as I scraped the leftovers into the bin, I could feel his eyes on me.
‘Why were you smiling at those customers?’ snapped Tom. ‘Don’t you love me?’
‘Sorry, ’ I said. ‘Of course I love you.’
