To Hell and Back, Episode Two, Death Comes in Seven Flavors - John Pirillo

    Inside Cover

It had been a hundred and one degrees outside my friend's home, but when I stepped off the porch, it was suddenly about twenty degrees below zero and I was having a hard time not growing icicles on my nose and ears.

I hurried towards home, but as I did, I noticed that the road seemed a bit bumpier than usual. I kicked at it and the whole thing began to unravel, winding upwards until I could see this incredibly large head and these ghoulish red eyes.

You bet. It was the Midgard Serpent. Or demon if you will.

I think it was seriously considering me for a snack at the time by the way it eyeballed me, but at that moment Fatso came running up with a baseball bat and swatted the poor creature on its side, causing a major dent.

The Midgard Serpent made the most horrible sound.

The father of my friend came running out with his staff and swatted it on the same spot, cursing it in some kind of tongue I couldn't comprehend, and the Midgard Serpent dropped flat, becoming the road again.

The father took me and Fatso aside and warned. Be careful, son. Legends have their roots in reality. You were lucky tonight and had a friend to save you and me to stop your doom. But another night you might be dealt a hand you can't lay down and survive.

As he walked back towards his home, the winter storm faded way and the home the father lived in for a moment became this wintry castle with large Ice Frost Giants guarding its entrance. He stepped to the entrance, shoved the door open and looked back. His single eye glowed like fireworks a moment, then he and the castle vanished.
