About this ebook
Mike looked around the old inn. He was tired and burnt out. Not even in his mid forties and he walked away from everything. Hoping to heal in the desert sun. His sister had told him about the old inn and he had decided to visit for a while. Nothing had prepared him for what he would find when he arrived.
He met a beautiful woman named Evelyn and as she began to heal his tired heart and mind he found the strength to help her heal as well. Mike did not know what Evelyn had endured, he knew she was a beautiful woman who had died a long time ago. He had an impossible relationship with an earthbound spirit.
Evelyn gave Mike the strength to dream big and help her find a way to free herself. Though he did not know if she would as Ryan had before her remain with him for ever or be lost to him for eternity.

Evelyn walked next to the old house. Ryan had come to the valley and invited them to visit. Evelyn laughed. She had thought of him as Isaac for so many years it was difficult to make the transition. Ryan though was as gracious in life as he was in death and patiently reminded her of his new name. She was sure in just a matter of days she would never forget again.
Evelyn was so happy for Isaac. Ryan she corrected herself. For him to have left the valley and live again in another time with a woman he loved was truly a miracle. Evelyn sighed. She wanted nothing more than to be loved and treasured. Ryan was the first man, she was not afraid of. It is funny, most people think about ghosts as unfeeling creatures who died a horrible death and could not transition.
Evelyn knew she had feelings. She felt both fear and pain. She stood below the window listening. She was not sure if she should enter. Would anyone else be there?
Ryan had told her that after much discussion with his brother, they decided to open the old house as an Inn again. She had seen a few people enter the Inn, but hoped the old library was empty.
Evelyn looked in the window and smiled, Ryan had said he left the room as it had been. It was a place where the inhabitants of the valley would always be welcome. He had left a window ajar for them. Evelyn slipped through the window and looked around. She sighed in relief that she was alone. She walked to a note posted next to the book shelves. ‘This home is a refuge for tired travelers, both the living and the earthbound. Respect the rights of your fellow travelers and let them rest in peace. There will be no exorcisms or haunting.
If you cannot abide by these simple rules kindly leave the way, you came in. PS the management reserves the right to evict anyone for not adhering to the rules.
Enjoy your rest’
Evelyn laughed Isaac and his sense of humor. She looked around the room and walked to a small table by the window. It had an old sewing machine on it with some fabric ready for sewing. There was a basket with more fabric and needles. Evelyn had loved sewing. She had stitched all her brothers and sisters clothes. She sighed again as she walked around the room.
Why am I the only one?
She wondered. "They all passed. Yet here I wander, fifty years now, and I am still not free. She turned her mind from her thoughts. It would do no-good dwelling on the past. She had spent many years doing that and had gotten nowhere. She wished she could be free. She would not mind if she did not come back as Isaac and Jeb as long as someone would take the pain and the memories from her.
Evelyn heard a noise and stepped closer to the books. She smiled when she saw Isaac walk into the room. Isaac,
she said.
Evelyn, welcome,
he said to her. Please remember Ryan not Isaac.
I am sorry Ryan. How are you?
I am well,
he said as he walked toward the mirror. He hoped Evelyn would step forward so he could see her. He had never heard the story of what she had been through but knew she was very timid. He stayed in one spot as he talked to her. Did you see the sewing machine and basket?
Yes, I did,
He could hear the smile in her voice. We set that up for you,
he told her. Ryan heard her indrawn breath.
You got this for me, but why? I cannot do that.
You can do it Evelyn, all you have to do is try anytime you want. It will be there for you.
He smiled in her direction. Evelyn was very good at hiding. Most of the ghosts in the valley he could
