    CHAPTER 1

    18 YEARS LATER...

Nathalia Maori yawned and stretched her arms before getting out of bed. It was the day of her eighteenth birthday, but unlike any other teenager on their eighteenth birthday; she was not as excited as she should be. Maybe it was because she didn’t have anyone to share it with. It wasn’t that she didn’t have any friends because she did. She had lots of friends. But it was a family that she wanted most.

She never really knew her parents. Her mother had died when she was just three years old and the only thing she knew about her, was that she was sick and died in a hospital. No one told her that it was a mental institution and not a normal hospital.

She had lived with her Aunt Debra since she was a baby while her mother was recovering and she was still living with her to this date. Don’t get her wrong, she loved her aunt, but it still wasn’t the same.

As for her father, she didn’t even know who he was. She had asked her aunt about him several times but she refused to answer her saying that she would find out in time.

Nathalia walked out of the bathroom then where she had freshened up before heading into the kitchen where she met her aunt fixing her breakfast.

Hi honey! her aunt greeted her brightly; placing a plate of pancakes in front her at the table. Happy Birthday!

Nathalia tried to smile brightly but somehow the smile didn’t quite reach her eyes.

Thanks. She replied picking up a fork and turning to the plate.

By the way, her aunt began as she hurried out of the room and came back about a minute later, a large envelope in her hand, This is for you.

Nathalia eyes the envelope curiously, her brown eyes narrowing a little.

Your mother told me to give this to you when you were older. Her aunt continued, And I thought that this would be the perfect time.

She handed her the envelope and Nathalia took it slowly. She had never gotten anything from her mother before and she was anxious to see what was inside.

Do you mind if I come back for this later? she asked her aunt motioning to her breakfast, I really want to see what’s inside this envelope.

Sure honey. Her aunt replied. She understood her excitement but at the same time, she was worried about how she would react to the contents inside the envelope. She wasn’t exactly sure what it was but she had a feeling that it was about Sydney and her relationship with AJ. Nathalia deserved to know who her parents were.

Nathalia got up and headed back to her room. She sat on her bed and opened the envelope as carefully as she could. Inside she found a letter addressed to her. She opened it and began to read.

    CHAPTER 2

    To my daughter Nathalia,

Lord knows how hard it was for me to give you up but I had no choice. They said that in my condition it would be better if I left you in the care of someone else. Your Aunt Debra is the only one I could trust to take care of you as I would. I hope you like her as much as I do.

I know you must be filled with questions about your father and me. I specifically told Debra not to respond to those questions but I would do so myself. And if you are ready, I am willing to share those secrets with you now.

When I was younger, I had always loved dancing. It was my passion and I was good at it. It was this passion that encouraged me to do it as a career. I hear about an audition from a friend of mine for a pop-group called the Bayside Boys. I’m sure you’ve heard of them or seen them.

Nathalia stopped reading and tried to think of who her mother was talking about. She did recall seeing a group like that on television at some point in time. They were pretty famous. Some of them still are. She shook her head and continued reading...

Well I auditioned to be one of their tour dancers and I got in. During this time I fell in love. Deeply in love. His name is Alexander Joshua McIntyre . He was a Bayside Boy and he IS your father.

Nathalia did a double take then and blinked.

My father was a Bayside Boy?! she asked aloud incredulously. She did, however remember hearing that name fairly recently and then she remembered seeing an interview with him on MTV. He is still pretty famous and he has a solo career now. Not bad mom, she thought as she continued reading.

Things were going great between us and then, my best friend Ali, who was sharing an apartment with me, took him away from me. She poisoned his mind and filled his head with crazy things about me and that’s why he left me...left us.

He knew I was pregnant and yet he did nothing. He wanted nothing to do with me. I tried everything possible to get him back and couldn’t. That is why in my absence, I ask you to do what I had set out to do in the first place. Take revenge on them both. On Ali, who took your father away from you and on AJ, your father, who didn’t care enough. I think that when this is done, my soul will finally be able to rest in peace. This is my last and only wish.

    Love,

    Your mother

    Sydney Maori

PS: Enclosed is something I had specially made for you.

Nathalia turned the envelope over on the bed and a beautiful gold locket fell out. She fingered it lightly and opened it. Inside was a picture of Sydney on one side and AJ on the other. Her mother and father. Her fists clenched as she remembered the letter.

Don’t worry mom. I’ll take revenge on them, if it’s the last thing I do. She fastened the locket securely around her neck and left the room.

    CHAPTER 3

Alexander McIntyre II or Alex as he was most commonly called, took his duffel bag out of his car trunk, closed the trunk and swung the bag over his shoulder. He then walked towards the front door of his home. Well actually, it was his parents’ house but he still lived there when he wasn’t staying at the dorm at the university. He liked spending time with his family when he got the chance and seeing that it was Spring Break, gave him a good excuse to come home.

During his eighteen years on this earth, he rarely got to see his parents since his father was a singer and his mother, a well-known lawyer. However, that never stopped them from being there for him whenever he needed them.

Alex paused in front of the door to pass a hand through his blonde hair. He didn’t even bother to knock, but opened the door slowly and went inside. He saw his ‘little’ sister, Aleesa, sitting cross-legged on the sofa watching MTV. He always called her his ‘little sister’ even though she was only one year younger than him, just to tease her.

Her back was to him and he
