The 33 Worst Mistakes Writers Make About Fishing - Tanya Drayton

    Introduction

I wrote this book because I love fishing and all the experiences that go with it. I hope it tempts those who have never tried it to do so and those that have and didn’t like it to give it another chance. There is so much beauty beyond the edges of our normal existence and it is my hope that this book will assist any and all authors who may wish to write about fishing but haven’t had the opportunity, or maybe they tried it and found that it just didn’t suit them but they still need factual information and ideas for use in their Work In Progress. It’s also for anyone who may ever have been tempted in the hopes it will help them to experience a world of extraordinary beauty and challenges that can only really be understood through the skills and familiarity of fishing.

I believe I am the person who has the information you need because fishing is a regular part of my lifestyle. My husband and I spend spring, summer and fall fishing as much as we can. Some years are better than others in so far as catching fish or even getting the time to go fishing. The bottom line however, is that we are both hardcore anglers and could outfit a veritable army with all the equipment we can’t seem to live without. With my husband, I have fished creeks, streams, rivers, lakes, ponds and the ocean. We have fished for food and for fun. Anytime we are lucky enough to catch more than we can use we always make sure to donate to those we know could use a little extra help and to those who are also avid anglers but can no longer make it out to fish due to age or health. Fishing is challenging and each time you hook one it’s a little like Christmas. Although you usually know what it is your fishing for, you never know what you’ve actually caught until you land it and therein lies part of the thrill. The rest of the thrill for me is the quality time I get to spend with my husband doing something we both love and the peace that it brings us in our lives.

May you get the chance to do the same with the ones
