The fascination with trophy bass began when he was eight years. His goal was to catch a lunker largemouth bass from one of the many ponds in the area. At the age of ten, he caught his first 6-pound bass on a spinnerbait.
The study of the writings and teachings of bass fishing pioneers such as Buck Perry, Al Lindner, Doug Hannon, Homer Circle, Glen Lau, and John Weiss brought a much deeper understanding of trophy largemouth and smallmouth bass. Applying this knowledge resulted in a true obsession with catching lunker bass. Some 40+ years ago his fishing friends gave him the nickname of “Mr Bass”.
Over the past 50+ years the author has pursued trophy bass in 21 states, the Great Lakes, Canada, and Mexico. This has allowed him to catch hundreds of largemouth over 7 pounds and hundreds of smallmouth over 5 pounds. He has guided many fishermen to their personal “Bass-of-a-Lifetime”!
