have been fortunate to catch many great fish over more than five decades of being a dedicated angling. Its hard to describe exactly what fuels my passion, but it never wanes. To catch a fish that you cannot hear, see or smell requires knowledge of that species habits and feeding patterns. There is a real satisfaction when your plan comes together, and your lure gets slammed by a good fish. In recent years I have spent a bit of time using Panoptics and Live Scope sounders. These units show me the fish forward or behind the boat. It lets you direct your casts, is definitely very effective when chasing species such as barramundi and Murray cod, but it does seem to take away some of the satisfaction I enjoy by finding fish without this type of technology.
