Chapter 1
Experiencing Change
What a beautiful day! Christian smiled, looking up. Fluffy clouds that looked like full scoops of ice cream floated in the clear blue sky. The weather was quite warm and soon, the wind would be just right for skateboarding and kite flying.
Christian looked around. His kite wasn’t the biggest in Joy Park, but his skateboard was the fastest and most stylished. The kite fly’s high and easy, he thought. He wouldn’t trade the blue kite for any other kite in the park or his neighborhood.
He pushed his foot against the pavement. He had always had fun skateboarding and flying his kite. It helped him to take his mind off problems, but today was different.
Chris, that’s what his friends and family called him- was a 12 year old seventh grader. At school, everybody recognized him. He joked and rolled all over the school, his neighborhood and the park on his skateboard. He’d also take trips to his Aunt Liz’s house. He’d soared off small ramps and the sidewalk- things that most girls wouldn’t dare try. Photos of his stunts were displayed on his walls. He wasn’t taking pictures or competing today. Today’s ride would be just for sporting and thinking. He made a weird face and thought about his Aunt Liz who loved him dearly. She told Chris that these days would come- puberty. He was at that age to learn that his body was able to procreate or produce. To Chris it seemed as if he was going from being in adolescence; the age of youth, to advancing to manhood overnight. Or so he thought.
Just as he was thinking, he heard a voice coo out, Christian. Woohoo! Christian.
He stopped and turned around. He looked up and saw a blue bird and blue bee flying in the air. They waved and smiled gleefully.
Christian thought he was hallucinating. He squinted his brown eyes in the sun. It didn’t help that he shaded his eyes with his hand. He still
