About this ebook
Those Amazing Dogs are globe-trotting adventurers who live with world famous archaeologist Felix Strong and his wife, Erica. As Felix and Erica pursue new evidence of ancient civilizations, they find themselves in unexpected adventures in some of the wildest places on Earth. The dogs, Max, Molly and Oddie are always ready to save the day when things become dangerous.
Max, the oldest, is a Lhasa Apso; he is a seasoned adventurer in a small package. Tinier still is Molly, a Yorkshire Terrier. Her youthful enthusiasm sometimes makes Max impatient, but her attitude and energy is often what keeps the team together. The largest of the group is the Pit Bull, Oddie. Though his sweet and simple nature often hides his strength, Oddie is always ready to use brute force to protect his friends or help those in need.
Designed for young independent readers (7 to 12 years old), these chapter books form an engrossing story for all ages that enjoy a good adventure. They also provide material for discussion and bits of real history mixed in with the fantastic journey of the dogs and their humans. These books also respect a child's inquisitive nature and encourage their readers to learn new words and concepts.
Book number five, "On the Coral Island," brings the dogs and their human companions out to sea. They must survive a dangerous ship wreck and brave the shark-infested ocean before finding themselves stranded on an uncharted island.
Following clues discovered on their original Viking map and the navigational charts discoverd in the Mexican pyrmid, Felix and Erica Strong are certain they will uncover a new lost civilization. But it is their faithful dogs, Max, Molly and Oddie who hold the link to everyone's rescue.
With new friends and unlikely help from the island's mysterious inhabitants, "On the Coral Island" is the most thrilling adventure yet for Those Amazing Dogs!
Exciting, educational and motivating reading for independent readers between 7 and 12 years of age, or anyone who loves a good adventure story.

Chapter One: Blue Skies and Sea
Most dogs do not like boats. Dogs like to run — they love parks, beaches, hills and big back yards. Dogs like to dig — they love sand, dirt, piles of leaves, and even stacks of dirty clothes. On a boat, there is usually no running around. On a boat, there is usually no place to dig. Some dogs do like boats. Max likes the wind in his fur when he sits his small Lhasa Apso body at the very front of the boat. Lhasa Apsos have long, wavy fur and the wind feels extra nice blowing through it. Molly also likes being on a boat, especially a big yacht like The Maverick. On this 150-foot long boat, a tiny Yorkshire Terrier like her can run through the rooms and around the decks. She can even run circles around her friend Max while he watches the waves.
After a week on The Maverick, one dog was certain that he did not like boats. Poor Oddie, the Pit Bull, could not run and jump because there was not enough room. If he ran on the deck, he could knock someone into the ocean. He had nowhere to dig holes. Worst of all, Oddie was beginning to get seasick. Boats, even big yachts like The Maverick, move up and down with the waves. At first, this did not bother Oddie. Day after day of bobbing up and down was starting to make him feel dizzy. Sitting out on the deck he could enjoy the ocean breeze, but he felt the boat moving up and down much more. So now Oddie was spending most of his time in their sleeping room.
Felix and Erica Strong had prepared a nice section of their sleeping room for the dogs. Oddie had a nice, fluffy bed right next to two smaller ones for Max and Molly. This room did not feel like it moved so much because it was near the middle of the boat. Felix and Erica each had a comfortable cot. Along the hallway outside their door, there were sleeping rooms for the rest of the crew. The cabin for Felix's old friend, Captain François and his nine-year-old daughter, Margot, was on the top deck.
Felix and Erica were focused on the old Viking maps that they had been following since long before they hired the boat. With
