    Chapter One:

Felix and Erica Strong stood at the entrance to the giant cave, watching in awe as a handful of workers hurried to collect artifacts that had not been touched or seen in hundreds of years. The sun was shining through the grand waterfall that poured in front of the cave's entrance, creating shimmering images of golden light against the cave walls. Max nudged Oddie toward Molly and Oddie took the hint, stepping over her and squatting down to shield her from the cold air.

    Thank you, Oddie, said Molly.

You are always welcome, he whispered back.

Felix handed the leashes to Erica and tapped their guide on the shoulder. Siggy, their friend from the Icelandic Speleological Society, climbed up a ridge of rock to meet them. He gave Erica a hug and then stood in front of Felix. The two friends shook hands firmly and then burst
